Rose Tip Christmas Tree Cookie

I was talking to a cookie friend of mine the other day and she had a great idea. She asked if I knew how to use certain tips the proper way. Well, I have taken a few cake classes in my day but I am not an expert, but I do want to share what I have learned with you. I also like to experiment with tips so I will let you know how those turn out. Let’s start with the rose tip. Did you know the rose tip isn’t just for roses? You can use it for a great textured tree.

the rose tip thebearfootbaker.comI made this little guy for a Christmas set but didn’t have time to post it. It is the perfect example of using a tip in a new way to achieve a certain texture on your cookie. Who knew a rose tip would be good for making trees?

Rose Tip #102

The Rose Tip thebearfootbaker.comReady for the tip trick?

The Rose Tip thebearfootbaker.comThis technique is really easy and all you need is the rose tip and the green outline icing. I prefer to use a bag instead of a bottle for this technique because it allows me to control the pressure for the best results.

The Rose Tip thebearfootbaker.comHold the bag so the wide part of the rose tip will lay flat on the cookie like in the picture above.

Apply pressure to create a small mound of icing. Decrease the pressure as you slowly pull the bag away from the mound and end the leaf with a quick pull to create a point.

The Rose Tip thebearfootbaker.comOverlap each row so you don’t see any cookies through the icing. Repeat until you get to the top of the tree.

The Rose Tip thebearfootbaker.comYou could stop there or you could add some snow. If you want to add snow let this part dry overnight.

The Rose Tip thebearfootbaker.comWith the white icing, apply the “snow’ to the edges of the tree.

The Rose Tip thebearfootbaker.comWith the paint brush, paint some white icing on the rest of the green because we all know snow doesn’t just land on the edges.

The Rose Tip thebearfootbaker.comSprinkle with Disco Dust and you are all done!

I hope this tip works for you. Don’t be afraid to try something new with your tips to achieve a texture you need. I have a lot of tips planned for the future so stop by and check them out.
