Folk Art Pumpkin Cookies

Don’t go to craft shows with me! I mean it! Don’t do it! I get like a kid in a candy store and I will embarrass you! I will see something and quickly walk over to it and grab it so no one else will get it. Even if there are 40 of them, I know they will be different because they are handmade and I have to have the one that was made just for me. I am obsessed! As I get ready to pay I will push the item into your hand and make you pay for it because I see a folk art pumpkin at the next booth! I HAVE to have that cute adorable folk art pumpkin so I can make folk art pumpkin cookies! So you are stuck in line paying for my stuff so  I can go over there and grab that pumpkin before anyone else can get it! It is MINE, MINE, ALL MINE I tell ya!! (Evil laugh here) I told you not to go to craft shows with me!

Folk Art Pumpkin Cookies thebearfootbaker.comI did it! I got the pumpkin that was made just for me. I used it as inspiration for these folk art pumpkin cookies just for you!

Supplies for Folk Art Pumpkin Cookies:

Orange 15 Second Icing
Black Outline Icing
Royal Icing Transfer Eyes and Templates

First, make the orange icing. I used AmeriColor Orange, Warm Brown, and Ivory. I don’t have a perfect recipe to give you to achieve this orange but, I can tell you how I did it.
Mix in the orange first.
Then, add the warm brown a little at a time until you get the shade you want.
And thanks to Sweet Sugar Belle, add a little Ivory until you get a folk art orange icing that makes you happy.

Folk Art Pumpkin Cookies thebearfootbaker.comTo get a folk art shaped pumpkin, use your favorite pumpkin cutter and give it a little trip. As you can see in the photo, take a little off the top and make the stem skinny.Folk Art Pumpkin Cookies thebearfootbaker.comNow for the really fun part:

  1. Outline the folk art pumpkin cookie with orange.
  2. Then, flood with orange. Add brown stem.
  3. Next, add royal icing transfer eyes while the orange is wet. Let dry for about 20 minutes.
  4. Add the nose and mouth.
