Gingerbread Men Cookies
Do you like gingerbread men cookies? I am a big fan! I always look forward to seeing the cute little gingerbread boys and girls everyone will make. My favorite gingerbread men cookies have been made by kids.
Can you imagine how many people have a gingerbread men cookie tradition? What a wonderful time for kids to gather around the kitchen table and make cute little cookies they can eat. I love watching them make cute little faces and adding sprinkles and candy to their cookies all while trying to resist biting off a leg or arm.
Supplies for Gingerbread Men Cookies:
Brown 15 Second Icing
White Outline Icing
Thinned White Icing
Black Icing for Eyes
Red Outline Icing
Favorite Colors for the Ties
First, outline the cute little gingerbread men cookies with the brown icing.
This is the really fun part! You will need a decorating bottle for this step. If you don’t have an icing bottle, then you can use a clean mustard or ketchup bottle.
Do you remember when Callye of Sweet Sugar Belle made her super cute Speckled Egg Cookies? Well, we are going to use her technique to make the gingerbread men cookies.
First, while the brown icing is wet, grab the thin white icing.
Then, squeeze the air out of the empty bottle and stick the tip into the icing. Release pressure from the bottle sucking up some of the icing into the tip.
Then, hold the bottle over your man and give a quick squeeze! Look again at how Sweet Sugar Belle did hers. I will wait while you look. Now cover your work surface and burp those bottles!
The great thing about adding white icing to a brown gingerbread men cookies is the way the white icing bleeds and makes it look better than the bright white.
Now add as much or little as you want and let it dry overnight. Tomorrow, we decorate!
Have fun decorating the faces and giving your little gingerbread men cookies personality. I think gingerbread men and snowflakes have a lot in common. No two should be alike. Now grab your kids or grand-kids and have a decorating party!
Merry Christmas,
Now that’s what I call a real MAN! Love the speckles, splatters and neck ties!
