Jello Hearts for Valentine’s Day
Do you like jello? My Valentine is crazy about it. It seams we are always buying the snack packs or I am boiling water to make his favorite treat. I had to banish him from the kitchen until I could get the pictures for this post. He even told me he was going to go buy some chocolate and tell me I couldn’t eat it so I would know what he was going through!
Let’s make jello hearts for Valentine’s Day!
Since Jell-O is one of Alan’s favorites, I wanted to make something a little more than Jell-O squares for Valentine’s Day and hearts seemed appropriate.
I saw these Jell-O Fire Crackers and followed the video to make these but, instead of using cute little cups, I decided to use Strawberry Jell-O and layer it in a 9′ x 13″ baking pan. My pan had rounded edges on the bottom and I wished I had used a pan like this one with nice sharp corners but, I had a lot of volunteers to eat the scraps so it all worked out.
Pour 1 cup of the Strawberry Jell-O into your pan and place in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.
Remove from refrigerator and gently pour 1 cup of unflavored gelatine mixture over the chilled Strawberry Jell-O. Place it in the refrigerator and chill for 15 minutes.
Repeat. Mine made 7 layers. Just be sure you end with the strawberry on top.
Leave in the fridge for at least 2 hours or until firm. Place bottom of pan in some warm water for a few seconds to help the Jell-O release from the pan and dump it onto a platter and cut with cute cookie cutters.
Do you want to know something crazy? My husband doesn’t eat sugar cookies! He doesn’t like them. I KNOW!! He has never tasted one of my cookies. Good thing I met him before I got obsessed with them or my life could have been totally different. Could I actually marry a man that didn’t eat sugar cookies??
Since he makes my heart jiggle, I will keep him!

Happy Creating,
What a clever idea!! How funny that Alan said that he was going to buy chocolate! LOL What a sweet thing to make for him and such a cute idea! I can see this one being made my many people several times over. Hmmm… do I have any Jello in the pantry myself? Again, super cute idea, Lisa! Happy Valentine’s Day to you both!
I just laughed when he was telling me he was going to buy chocolate! He is so funny!
Happy Valentine’s Day to you and your family:)
I love that you got to work your cookie cutters in! A dessert that combines both of your loves: jello + cookies! Very cute!
I HAD to use a cookie cutter Michelle!! It made us both happy! LOL
Oh Lisa – what fun these are and what a great treat for your Valentine! Love the layerd look – it’s like Jello layered with love! 🙂
Awe! You are so cute Kim!
SO cute! My husband isn’t a huge fan of sugar cookies either – he would happily eat these though! 🙂
I can’t wait to meet you Jennifer! We both love snow, our hubbies don’t care for cookies and we love to bake. I think we might be long lost twins!
You are welcome to send any & all sugar cookies my way! I really think they’re just about my favorite.
The jello hearts are so cute!
Awe thanks Pat! I am glad you are willing to take one for the team! LOL 😉
I’m not a big Jello fan, having suffered through every Jello mold recipe of the 60’s and 70’s.
BUT, these are just gorgeous! A really pretty take on the layered look!
“Makes my heart jiggle”– Lisa, you crack me up! This is an awesome idea!!
I love that you made these into hearts! I would love these for Valentine’s Day. And thanks for the link love!
