Banana Bunnies for Easter
I was surfing Pinterest the other day and saw bananas dipped in chocolate. I immediately thought about making some banana bunnies for Easter but, I was curious about the taste. I melted some chocolate, dipped a banana and was pleasantly surprised by how good it was! Who knew? We all know chocolate makes everything better so I don’t know why I was surprised.
I will admit, I thought these would be really easy to make and they were but, adding the whiskers was a little more challenging than I thought it would be. After I made a few it was easy because I got smart. I used my decorating tweezers which are not in the picture below. Sorry about that.
I decided these would look really cute on a stick and boy was I wrong! It stayed for a few minutes then, I watched it slide down and poked a hole through my bunnies head. It was sad. I made a few more without the sticks and sat them on a platter and I like the way it turned out just as good if not better than placing them on sticks. I actually think it was better because I didn’t have to find a cute container to stick them in. A little green tinted coconut to resemble grass and it was perfect!
Banana Bunnies Supply List:
Banana’s
Vanilla Candy Wafers or Chocolate
Nutter Butter Cookies or any cookie you can cut for ears
Chocolate Jimmies for whiskers
Pink candy for the nose
Beads for eyes or Royal Icing Eyes
Other Decoration Ideas:
Coconut
Chocolate Chips
Red Nerds for nose
Begin by melting the white candy wafers and dipping your banana pieces.
First, gather as many or as few decorating supplies you want. I like placing mine in these cups for easy access.
Then, prepare your Nutter Butter cookies. You don’t have to use Nutter Butters but, I liked the curve on the top of the ears. Next, cut the bananas into 3 pieces. You can leave the peal on until you are ready to dip so the banana doesn’t turn brown.
Then, poke the cookies into the top of the banana to make the holes. Remove them and dip the banana into the melted chocolate. I didn’t dip mine all the way, I left some of the bottom exposed so it would be easy to hold while dipping. Place it on the platter and dip a few more.
Dip the pointed tip of the cookie into the chocolate and place them into the top of the banana. You will need to hold it in place for a few seconds while the chocolate dries or they might fall off. Once they dry enough to stay in place, carefully dip the top of the ears. I found it best to dip the ears in 2 steps so you have a place to hold them until they set without messing up the chocolate.
Now for the face. Let your imagination go wild and make coconut hair or chocolate cheeks. The decorating tweezers work really well for this. Dip the tip of your decoration in the melted chocolate and stick it in place to make a cute face for each of your banana bunnies. I kinds think my last one looks like a mouse! What do you think?
I am going to make these again for Easter and make them in all different colors. I think using yellow, pink, orange candy wafers and some dark chocolate would make a colorful dessert platter.
Happy Creating,
Bunnies! Bananas! Chocolate! These sound terrific and are so cute!

Only you with your wonderful imagination could have come up with these! Love 🙂
Oh, so cute, Lisa! 🙂 Bananas and chocolate are fabulous together!
The Big Banana in Coffs Harbour NSW Australia sells frozen dark chocolate covered bananas and they are fantastic… just thought I’d mention that… try it and be pleasantly surprised, it’s just like icecream.
Oh, you mean you’ve never had fozen choc. bananas on a stick? Used to be a store called “Choc-O-Nanna” that we frequented in Leesburg, Fl.
Blessings, Donna B.
Too darn cute and too darn funny! I love the 3rd one (on far right) that looks kinda like a sweet little mouse.. such a great expression on his/her face. If you ever do want them on sticks I think the trick would be to freeze them on the sticks but I agree with you, I’d like them on the plate with coconut grass… and jelly beans. You’re so clever.
I love bananas dipped in chocolate. I’ve never tried them in white chocolate before though. I’ll have to give it a try. Your bunnies are so cute. I just spent an afternoon adding tiny little details to a sweet treat and had to grab the tweezers. They are so handy especially when working with sprinkles.
So cute! Trader Joe’s carries frozen sliced chocolate covered bananas…super yummy!
These are too cute. You seriously come up with the cutest ideas.
What a perfect way to dress up (and eat) a banana!!!
