Zoo Cookies- Giraffe, Lion and Elephant Cookies
The other day I shared how to hand cut dough so you can make a cookie out of almost any shape you find. If you look around in craft stores, they have many shapes that are perfect for cookies. Â I like it because it gives you the outline and you can use your own creativity to design and personalize the cookies.
The shapes I found were really cute so I just used them as the pattern. I even got to play with the airbrush gun a little. That always makes for a good day.
Supplies:Â
All the icing is 15 second icing
- Brown Icing
- Blue Icing
- Yellow Icing
- Black Icing
Airbrush gun
AmeriColor Aribrush Colors
- Warm Brown
- Lemon Yellow

Elephant, Giraffe and Lion Pattern
Outline the dots and the tail with the brown icing. Then, sprinkle sanding sugar or Chocolate Jimmies if you want some texture.
Next, flood his face and ossicones (horn-like structures, at least that is what Google says they are called.)
Outline and flood the feet with the black icing.
Airbrush the edge of the face and the ossicones with AmeriColor Warm Brown airbrush color. For airbrush help, click here.
Next, with the yellow icing, outline and flood the face and add the eyes.
Airbrush the edges with the warm brown airbrush color. Let it dry for about 20 minutes
Next, flood the body with yellow.
Let it dry for a little and airbrush with the warm brown airbrush color.
Outline the mane and tail with the brown icing.
Outline the body and head with the yellow icing.
Outline and flood the feet with the black icing.
Flood the mane and the tail with the brown icing. When it dries a little, airbrush with the warm brown airbrush color.
With the yellow icing, flood the face and body and add the eyes. Let it dry for a little while and then airbrush with the orange airbrush color.
I had to use a yellow edible marker to make the face. I didn’t want it to go all wonky on me.
With the blue icing, outline the elephant.
Flood the ears and tail and sprinkle with sanding sugar.
Did you know you can airbrush sanding sugar? You can and it is cute. Once the ears and tail have dried a bit, airbrush with the sky blue airbrush color.
Then, flood the face and and the eyes. Let it dry some and airbrush with the sky blue airbrush color
Then, flood the body. When it dries a little, airbrush with the sky blue airbrush color.
I enjoy going to craft stores to find inspiration for cookies. It seems like they add a bunch during the holidays also. Keep and eye out and let me know if you find something good.
Happy Creating,
these are too cute for words. love it!
So fun! I love how you add dimension when you airbrush.
The lion is my fave! I just love that scruffy mane 🙂
I really need to get my airbrush out and practice some more. I suffer from airbrush phobia.
This set is so adorable, Lisa!
So cute, Lisa. I love finding inspiration in craft stores too. 🙂
Too cute!
You’re a whiz with that airbrush! These came out great!
Love these cookies, Lisa! You’re totally right about finding inspiration in craft stores. My friends thinks I’m a little loony that I spend so much time at Michaels/JoAnn’s. I just get so many ideas when I comb through the aisles.
These are the sweetest looking cookies ever!
C is for CUTE! 🙂
So adorable. I absolutely love how you made the lion’s nose. It gives him such character.
Adorable Lisa.
These are so cute. Thanks for the tutorial. Can you please post the templates when you have a chance? I would love to make these. Thanks. Kathy
