Royal Icing Flower Decoration with Template

Welcome to “Template Tuesday” where all you have to do is “Print and Pipe!” Today we are going to talk about Royal Icing Flower Decorations. I want to start something new. It is going to be “Template Tuesday’s” and all you have to do is “Print and Pipe” the template that I  make for you. You can use them for royal icing transfers, sprinkles (if you shrink the pattern), cupcake toppers, cookie accents and more. I keep jars of them on hand for cupcakes and to help speed up my cookie making time.

If you have ideas of things you want, leave me a comment and I will try to make it for you. I have a lot of fun templates ready for you. Let’s kick off the First-Ever Template Tuesday with some cute airbrushed flowers.

You can make these with or without airbrushing them but, I thought it would be fun to give them a little spritz of sky blue. I like the way they turned out.

For the center of the flower, I used the eye template I made a few weeks ago. If you don’t want to make the white centers, you can add sugar pearls, dragees, or candy beads. If you live in a humid climate, you can make and store the centers and the flower separately and use a dot of icing as glue to connect them the night before you use them. This method works great for me.

The best part about transfers is, you can make them and store them in an airtight container so they are ready when you need them. I store mine in  4 oz Ball Quilted Jelly Jars and 8 oz Half Pint Jars. Some people store them in a flat container with wax paper in between each layer but, the jars work well for me.

If you ever have leftover icing, don’t throw it away. These were made with some blue I used for these elephants and it worked perfectly. Just “pipe” the blue flower on the wax paper and then dropped the white center in the middle. Let them dry for at least 24 hours before removing them.

If you chose to airbrush them, do so before you remove them from the wax paper. If you remove them first, you will be chasing them all around the countertops.  They are light and will fly away when the air hits them. Yes, I found this out the hard way! LOL

Click here to download this pattern and feel free to re-size it if you want. I am going to make tiny rainbow colors and use them as sprinkles.

I hope you are looking forward to “Template Tuesdays” as much as I am! Leave me a comment of what template you want. I will try my best to make it happen!
