Goldfish Royal Icing Transfers & Template
When I started “Template Tuesday” I had no idea how much fun I was going to have doing it. I never would have made a school of goldfish but, I did and I had fun!I now am the proud owner of a goldfish bowl! I am going to use these to make a goldfish bowl cookie and use some on ties for Father’s Day. I think I will use some to sprinkle on my Ben and Jerry’s Phish Food ice cream. You can use them in several different ways but, I promise you will have fun making them.

For instructions on making royal icing transfers, click here. There is a couple of ways to make these. You can either make the tails first or make the body first. I made the large ones with the body first. Fill the circle and add the eye. Then, add the tails.
For the small ones, follow the instructions for the large goldfish but, I made the tails first and I liked it that way better. If you want to get fancy, you can use a small star tip for the tails.
If you want to take more time on them you could add a touch of airbrushing or make a little fin on the side. You could even use some disco dust to make them look sparkly.
I used some icing to glue 2 of them together to make 3D goldfish. They would be cute on cupcakes or the top of a cake with blue icing. I had to use some icing to make them stand up for this photo but, if you add them to a cake, you could skip that step.

hi, these are way cool. can i use royal icing that has corn syrup in it with these templates? will they keep as long as those made without corn syrip in tne icing? ive heard that transfers can last up to a year if stored properly and i really want to know if the corn syrup can shorten the time span or if affects the transfers in anyway. thanks
I think royal icing with corn syrup is fine to use to make royal icing templates. It shouldn’t shorten the life of the transfers if stored properly. I always check them a week or so before I plan on using them to make sure they look ok and to make sure the colors didn’t bleed.
