These are among my favorite cookies ever. Mostly because they were really fun to make and I love the depth the airbrushing added. The best part is I only used one color of icing but you can’t really tell because the airbrush gives them so much depth. I used multiple airbrush colors in light layers and the effect turned out better than I hoped it would. I was really focused on the shrimp cookies for the Seafood Cookies tutorial but, these little guys quickly became my favorite.

If you only have the spoon, use it. If you don’t have either one, you can use the letter “I” or the letter “L” cutter and trim it so it will work for you.

Just trim the cutters, place them on a baking sheet and bake them according to the sugar cookie directions.

With the white icing and a #2 tip, outline the legs.  Food every other section and let them dry for about 20 minutes.
Then, flood the remaining sections and let them dry for about an hour.

With the thick icing and a #2 tip, make little spikes randomly about the legs. Let the cookie dry completely. We want them nice and dry for airbrushing. The cookies don’t have to be dry to airbrush them but, it works best with the little spikes on the legs.

Seafood Cookies thebearfootbaker.com

Well now you have a gift idea for someone who is allergic to shell fish or a dessert to take to a seafood party. I wonder if we could take these to Red Lobster. Do they allow you to bring your own desserts? Wouldn’t it be funny to try?
