Reindeer Cookies for Christmas
Merry Christmas! I hope you have “decked the halls”, “shopped until you dropped” and “jingled all the way” to wherever it is that you are going because it is time to bake Christmas cookies!
Remember yesterday when I showed you these Santa cookies? Remember when I told you that Santa cutter quickly became my favorite cutter? The truth is I bought the set because the reindeer cutter and not the Santa cutter. The reindeer made my heart skip a beat when I saw it. It is the most adorable reindeer cutter I’ve seen in a long timeand I knew the reindeer cookies would be adorable.
I think the shape of the reindeers head is what made my heart skip a beat. I knew adding a red Sixlet for the nose would push me into a cuteness overload.
Supplies for Reindeer Cookies:
15 Second icing in the following colors:
- Tan
- Ivory with a drop of tan icing
- Each Color is in a piping bag fitted with a #2 or #2.5 piping tip
Royal Icing Recipe or Half a Batch of Royal Icing Recipe
Sugar Cookie Recipe or Gingerbread Recipe
4mm beads
Black Sixlets
Red Sixlets
Santa and Reindeer Cookie Cutter
Decorating Tweezers
Optional–Airbrush Gun with Warm Brown Americolor AmeriMist Color
Begin by outlining the head with the tan icing. For information on flooding and outlining cookies, click here.
Next, outline the antlers with the ivory icing.
Then, flood the antlers with the ivory icing and let it dry overnight.
Next, flood the body with the tan icing. While the icing is wet, add a 4mm bead for the eye and a black Sixlet for the nose. If you want to make a Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer Cookie, add a red Sixlet nose to one of the reindeer. Let them dry completely.
Look how cute they are! They are cute like this but I decided to airbrush them to see how they would look.
I like the airbrushed reindeer a little better but, you know me, I like airbrushed things. For more information on how to airbrush cookies, click here.
If you have got all your “halls decked”, and “shopped until you’ve dropped”, I hope you “jingle all the way home” and makes these cookies. If you don’t bake cookies let me encourage you to start making Christmas cookies. It is a tradition worth starting.

Bear hugs,
I just wanted to tell you I think your work is absolutely amazing!!!! Thank you for sharing your talent and for showing someone like me how I can create a beautiful cookie! Your page is one of my favorites!!!!!!!
Awe! Thanks Susan. You just made my week!!
I absolute love these. They are so pretty.
Thanks Melissa!
Unfortunately, the cookie cutter set is out of stock for the season, but I will put them on my “to do” list for next year. Thanks for the inspiration. Any problem with the antlers breaking on this design. I’ve had that problem with a lot of reindeer designs.
Diane, I posted several links under the supply list that sell them. They are hard to find now but you can check Etsy. They might have them. 😉
Thanks!
Stunning, Lisa!
Thanks Gail!
Hi Lisa,
Your work is stunning! I love the air brush technique on it. I just cannot get myself to buy one. So intimidated by it. One of these days, just going to get the air brush gun.
You can do it Asmita! I know you can and I am right here to answer any questions you have!
Oh my gosh…I WANT this cutter! So much so, that I headed right to the website to buy it! Sadly, I could not make myself pay almost as much for shipping as the cutter itself, so I had to pass :-(…it’s my biggest pet peeve!
So, I will just enjoy yours…at least for this year!
Terry, did you look at all the links I listed that see it?
Terry, On one of the Amazon links listed above I paid $9.26 which included the shipping price. That is reasonable.
Lisa, I am so happy you did the tutorial for the reindeer. They came out adorable. Can’t wait for my shipment to arrive.
I am excited for you Kathy!
I love this cutter, too!! Much better than others I’ve seen around town. Great find and cute cookie! 🙂
Thanks Michelle! I can’t stop thinking about your cute Mrs. Clause cookie. For those of you that haven’t seen it yet, you can find it here: http://www.makemecake.me/2013/12/02/mrs-claus-cookies/ and the full tutorial is here: http://www.sweetsugarbelle.com/2013/12/mrs-claus-cookies/
These are the most elegant reindeer cookies, I’ve seen yet. I too love the cutter. It’s simple shape makes a really striking looking cookie.
Thanks Beth! The shape of the cutter makes it really easy to decorate!
Lisa, I’ve never seen this cute reindeer cutter before and it is so cute. I love your color choices and the airbrushing finishes these off nicely. Happy Holidays!
Thanks Joan! The shape of the reindeer is wonderful! I hope you get one. Merry Christmas!!
Love these guys, Lisa! And like you, I think I prefer them airbrushed, too! My fav is Rudolph with his big red nose! 🙂
I like them without the airbrushing but, I think the airbrushing is a great detail. But then again, I like to play with my airbrush gun! LOL
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. And – I spy Rudolph in there! 🙂
Thanks Jennifer! I love this cutter!
After the adorable Santa cookies, I knew it wouldn’t be long until you’d be sending out a little reindeer – Rudolph to be exact and I love him. You’ve got MAD airbrush skills!
Thanks Kim! I adore this reindeer cutter. It is such a great shape and I hope someday, we will have a lot of fun cookie cutters like this to chose from.
Adorable!! I love that you added the “Lisa” touch by airbrushing them. 🙂
You made me laugh Mike! The true “Lisa touch” is spilling a bag of powdered sugar all over my shirt when making icing! LOL
Lisa,
What bbbbbbbeautiful reindeer cookies! Thanks for sharing and for the tutorial of the rolling out of the dough! I look forward to the cutting tutorial as well! Exciting!!!!! I found you on Pinterest! THANKS Pinterest! Happy Holidays!
Cookie hugs, Patti
Hi Patti! I am glad you like the reindeer. I hope you find more things you like around here!!! WELCOME!!
Hello!
How long can we keep the cookies once they are decorated? And how should we store them?
Hi Chloe,
The cookies are good for up to four weeks if they’re stored correctly. I personally don’t keep mine that long. I like to give them quickly so whoever I give them to can eat them when they like. As long as you store them in an airtight container they’ll stay fresh. 😉
