Fun Turkey Cookies – or Funny Turkeys

Fun Turkey Cookies | The Bearfoot Baker

10 Days, 10 Turkeys, 10 Different Cutters. Today is day 4 in my turkey challenge and I think it is time for some fun turkey cookies. These little guys look like they have tiny candy cane tail feathers. I guess it is because it snowed here the other day and it made me dream of candy canes. Since I was in the middle of designing turkey cookies, well, you see the results. Fun turkey cookies with wild tail feathers that are made from a wheat cookie cutter.

I have had this cookie cutter for a few years now and this is the first tine I have ever used it. I think I will put it away in my turkey cookie cutter box because I like it better as a turkey than I do as wheat.

Supplies for Fun Turkey Cookies:

Brown Icing
Yellow Icing
Green Icing
Red Icing
Orange Icing
Candy Eyes

As I said before, these fun turkey cookies are made with a wheat cookie cutter. If you don’t have one you can use a shooting star cookie cutter. Just stretch the sides out a little and it will start to look like a cute turkey. Fun Turkey Cookies are Sugar Cookies Decorated with Royal Icing www.thebearfootbaker.com

All the icing used to make this turkey is 15 second icing that was in a piping bag fitted with a #2 piping tip.
Begin by piping a few candy cane shapes with the red icing. Let it dry for a few minutes and repeat with the orange icing.
Repeat the previous step with the yellow and green icing and let the cookie dry for a few hours.

NOTE: If you live in an area with a lot of humidity, you will need to let each color of icing dry completely before adding the next color. Letting the colors dry completely will help prevent the colors from bleeding.

Add the candy eyes while the icing is wet.
Let the cookie dry completely.

Then, add the nose and the snood with the red icing. I think this cutter will make a cute peacock with crazy random feathers. What do you think?
