Simple Golf Cookies

Do you like golf? I think golfers are amazing to be able to hit that little ball into a small hole hundreds of yards away. Me? I can’t hit that tiny ball at all. I can play Putt-Putt Golf but I can’t hit the broad side of a barn in a regular game of golf. I guess I need fun animals or weird colored waterfalls to motivate me. One thing I can do is make simple golf cookies and I don’t need fake green grass to make it happen. I just need some green sprinkles.

  • Begin by outlining the flip flop cookies with the green icing.
  • Outline a smaller circle on the heal of the flip flop and flood it.
  • While the icing is wet, add a 4mm bead to look like the hole on the greens and let it dry for a few hours.
  • Next, flood the rest of the cookie with the green icing and add a white sugar pearl ball.
  • While the icing is wet, add the green sprinkles and shake off the excess. I like using a coffee filter when I use sprinkles because it makes things nice and neat.

  • Outline and flood them with the white icing and let them dry for at least an hour.
  • Then, add rows of dots. Let them dry completely.

  • Outline and flood the top of the flag with the blue icing.
  • Outline and flood the bottom of the flag with the green icing.
  • While the green icing is wet, add a small amount of black icing for the hole. I didn’t do mine while the icing was wet and I don’t like the way it looks. Wet on wet technique would be better.
  • Let the icing dry completely.
  • Then, add the flag pole with the gray icing.
  • Outline the flag with the white icing and only fill one side of it.
  • Let it dry for about 20 minutes and then flood the other side of it.
  • Let it dry completely.

These cookies remind me of one of the first dates my husband took me on. It was to a Mini Putt-Putt Golf Course and his parents, brother and sister-in-law met us there. I was a little nervous and didn’t know what to expect but I went because I wanted to have some fun so I agreed to go.

My mother-in-law was surprisingly good and she didn’t even aim when she hit the ball. She would rare back and hit that ball super hard with the little tiny club they gave her and I swear, that ball went in the hole almost every single time. I was so busy laughing that I didn’t have time to be nervous. I just had fun. Just like I did when I made these simple golf cookies. If you decide to make them, I know you will have as much fun as I did watching my mother-in-law hit that ball without even looking at it.
