Simple Flower Cookie Pops

I don’t know about you but the best gifts I ever received for Mother’s Day were the one’s my kids made for me. I loved the handmade cards and cute cut out flowers they cut crooked with those tiny little kids scissors. Thinking about those special times is what inspired these simple whimsical flower cookie pops. They remind me of the best Mother’s Days you can imagine so I was determined to make them into cookies.

I am happy with the way they turned out and can’t wait to help my grandson make them for his mom this week. I know he will have fun “painting cookies” (that is what he calls decorating) with Nana.

Supplies for Flower Cookie Pops:

Circle Cookies (any size)
Cookie Pop Sticks
White Icing
Red, Yellow and Green Icing or whatever color of icing you want for the flowers
Airbrush gun with red, yellow and green airbrush color (the airbrushing is optional so don’t feel like you have to have one to make these cookies)
Paper Straws
Green fabric or ribbon to tie on the straws for the leaves-I only used one per container because adding more leaves made the container look very crowded.

The picture I took of the white outlined and flooded cookies didn’t turn out well so I didn’t add it. Here is a post on how to outline and flood cookies if you would like to see how to do it.

Then, airbrush the center of your flower with the same color you are going to make your flower. This step is totally optional so don’t feel like you have to airbrush them. I think it gives the cookies a little something special but there is no pressure.

I decided to make you a little video to show how to make the flowers. Just remember, these are supposed to be whimsical so don’t stress over the design. Just have fun with it.

They just slide onto the ends. If the straws are too long, cut off the end with scissors before you add them to the jars.

Here is a little tip for you, make sure the icing is good and dry before you place them in the bouquet. I had a little finger print in one of my because I decided to rush things along. Well, take it from me, be patient.

If you want to add a piece of ripped fabric to look like leaves, just rip a thin piece about 6″ long and tie it around one of the stems after they are in place. Trim off the excess.
