Wooden Pumpkin Cookies
Happy Halloween!
I wanted to make you some Halloween cookies but I couldn’t decide what kind to make. Then, it hit me! Have you seen all the cute wooden disks that people are decorating with these days? Last Christmas I ordered a box of them to decorate and hang on my tree. They looked wonderful and I wanted to make some in cookie form. Then I remembered seeing some that Callye at Sweet Sugar Belle made and I knew I had to make wooden pumpkin cookies with jack-o-lantern faces.
Supplies for Wooden Pumpkin Cookies:
Sugar Cookies in Pumpkin Shapes – Sugar Cookie Recipe
Royal Icing Recipe
Brown Icing in a piping bag with a #2 decorating tip
Tan Icing in a piping bag with a #2 decorating tip
Airbrush System with warm brown AmeriMist airbrush Color
Begin by outlining the pumpkins with the brown icing and let it dry for a few hours.
Once the brown has dried for a while, airbrush the inside and outer edge with the warm brown airbrush color.
Then, flood the centers with the tan icing.
While the icing is wet, add the eyes, nose and mouth with the brown icing.
Next, make some squiggly lines to represent the wrings inside a tree.
Let the icing dry overnight.
Next, airbrush the edge of the face.
The really fun thing about these is you can decorate and airbrush each one of them differently. I made a video to give you a few ideas.
I love these wooden pumpkin cookies and I can’t wait to use this technique for Christmas cookies.
Happy Halloween! I hope you have fun tonight with the kiddos collecting candy! Be safe!

Very cute wooden pumpkins, Lisa. I love the little guy with the freckles!
“Wooden” it be cute to have a pile of these decorated to resemble a sliced tree branch and placed next to a Yule log on a dessert table at Christmas?
Just switch out the pumpkin cutter with a round one, airbrush around outer edge with white to resemble snow, and add features of your choice…just don’t forget a few freckles here and there!
What a great idea Janis! If you make one send me a picture! 😉
