I’d Snap at the Chance to be Your Valentine!

My daughter found this card on Pinterest. She thought it was funny. Then, she asked me to make some alligator cookies for her. I thought about it for about 2 seconds and told her I loved the idea! This is what we came up with:

Can you guess which cookie cutters I used to make him? I’ll give you a hint, it is not circles!

Supplies:

Black Outline Icing

Dark Green Outline Icing

Dark Green Flood Icing

Light Green Flood Icing

White Flood Icing

Blue Flood Icing

Did you figure out what cutters I used?

He was made with 2 hearts and a knife. That  sounds like the name of a rock band.  I am not cool enough to have a band but I do have a cool heart cutter my mom got me though. It is the big copper one in the picture above and it is one of my favorites. You don’t have to have that cutter to make these cookies. You can use any 2 hearts you want as long as one is a little bigger than the other one.

First, push the big one into the dough.

Next, cut the small heart on the larger heart by using the picture above for placement. When I did this step, I made sure there was room for a cheek on the left and a nose on the right.

Next, cut the larger heart in half but don’t cut the smaller heart. This will instantly give him a handsome gator face. I also wanted him to have a  square nose so I cut off the tip of the larger heart.

Remove the excess dough and bake that bad boy!

The first thing you need to do before you decorate is, outline your gator with a food safe marker. It is easy! I promise! Just follow the instructions above one step at a time. If you break it down it is very east to do!

Next, with the dark green outline icing, outline your alligator. While the icing is wet, use the light green flood icing to flood the bottom of the mouth and let it dry for about 30 minutes.

Next, with the dark green flood icing, flood the rest of the gator except for the eyes. Now this this dry for a few hours.

Now don’t kill me but, I only took one picture of the eyes! Sorry I got excited!

I did the eyes 2 different ways. You decide which one you like best.

First, with the white flood icing, flood the top part of the eye like in the picture above or in the picture below and let it dry for a few more hours.

Then, with the blue flood icing, add the dot of blue to the eyes. While the blue is wet, add the black part of the eye.

Now for the final touches. With the black outline icing, outline the gator and make a wonky “c” on his nose and fill part of it in.

Next, add a white dot to the eyes.

You are all done!

If you are in a really big hurry you can make these instead:

These little guys would be great for a party.

First, with your green outline icing, outline the gator.

Then, with your green flood icing, flood the gator.

Let it dry for about 30 minutes.

Next, with the black outline icing, make an eye. Using a toothpick, put a small dot of white on the in the black dot.

Now, outline the body with the black outline icing.

Last but not least, give the guy some teeth! All I did was add a few white dots and he looks ready to snap!

Come back tomorrow for a free cookie bag topper to put these guys in!

Happy Creating,

Lisa
