Gum Drop Royal Icing Transfers
I have always loved gum drop cookies because they are so colorful and happy covered in all that sanding sugar. As I was planning today’s “Template Tuesday,” I decided to go with a Christmas in July theme and gum drop royal icing transfers seemed to be to perfect choice.

I really like decorating cookies. Lately, I have been on cloud 9 with all the RI Transfers. It is at the top of my “Fun Things To Do” list. Anytime I can pipe and cover things with sanding sugar, it makes me happier than the people on those Geico commercials.
I know this is the second time I have used this photo but just look at how colorful these cuties are! I want to throw a gum drop themed party now. Maybe even a Candy Land Party. Everyone can dress up as their favorite color gum drop. I want to be red. No, maybe yellow. OK, OK I will be orange and then change into my red costume. I know I am a little off track and will try to be more focused for the rest of the post. Fingers crossed it works;)
Once your print the templates and tape them to a flat work surface, outline the row you want to pipe first. Flood them and sprinkle with sanding sugar immediately. The icing needs to be wet for the sanding sugar to stick to it.
I know there are probably 100 ways to do this but, this is what works for me. I outlined and flooded a row with the same color of icing, (purple in this photo) and then covered it with the same color of sanding sugar as the icing. Then, I moved to the next row of the same color I just outlined and flooded (purple again) and repeated the process. Once all the purple gum drops were outlined, flooded and covered in sugar, I dumped the sugar onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
