Pomegranate Berry Smoothie
I am working on losing weight. There. I said it out loud. My thyroid has gone nuts the last few years and it is driving me crazy. No matter what I do, the pounds don’t go away. I’m always tired and some times there are days that I am very confused. I’ve been making changes in my diet trying to focus on health instead of weight loss so I made a few smoothie recipes like this pomegranate berry smoothie to help start the day off right.
I’ve also rejoined Weight Watchers and exercise everyday hoping being consistent with that will eventually whip my thyroid into shape. I’ll update you all every once in a while and let you know how it is going.
I wanted to take this opportunity to tell you that studies show there are millions of people that don’t know they have a thyroid issue. I was one of them. The next time you go to the doctor for a check up, ask to have your thyroid levels checked. It is a simple blood test that might answer some questions about your health.
Supplies for Pomegranate Berry Smoothie:
Fresh raspberries
Fresh strawberries
Pomegranate juice
Low-fat strawberry yogurt
Tablespoons honey
Ice
Pomegranate Berry Smoothie
Ingredients
- 1 cup fresh raspberries
- 1 cup of fresh strawberries
- 1 cup pomegranate juice
- 1 cup low-fat strawberry yogurt
- 2 tablespoons honey
Instructions
- Blend all the ingredients in a blender. Pour into glass and enjoy!
The good thing about a smoothie recipe is it can be adjust to your taste. If you want to cut calories, then don’t add the yogurt. If you like to experiment with flavor, add fruit or juice to customize it to your taste buds. I really like this one and try to have it for breakfast once a week.
I used my Weight Watchers Builder to calculate the points and MyFitnessPal to calculate the nutritional information in these. Here is how it breaks down, calories-271, carbs-64, fat-1, protein-6, sodium 67, sugar 49, for a total of 7 Weight Watchers Points.
Here is wishing you all good health!
Also, I linked this up at 36 Avenue and you should see some of the amazing stuff there. You should heck it out if you have time.

Sounds delicious Lisa and good luck with your new lifestyle changes! Such a hard thing to do, but it sounds like you’re taking a really healthy approach to managing your thyroid and keeping your weight down. With tasty and nutritious smoothies like this one, no doubt you’ll be successful! Hugs and a high five for being so brave as to shout it from the virtual rooftops! 😉
Yum! Your pictures are beautiful too 🙂
They checked my thyroid in early pregnancy and my numbers were a little weird. They have corrected themselves now, but I’m definitely getting it checked after the baby is here to rule out any issues!
Lisa, these smoothies look delicious! I love pomegranate anything 🙂
Bravo to you for taking care of your health and making positive lifestyle changes. I’m so glad that you found out the source of your exhaustion and other symptoms. It must have been a huge relief to know what was causing your body to go haywire.
Wishing you all the best! I know you can do it!
Hugs,
Aida
GOOD LUCK!!! I know you can do it. Remember to take it one day at a time and to forgive yourself if you slip.
I’ve often wondered how many points are in that glob of royal icing that always falls off one cookie when I’m decorating. I’ve never been able to resist licking my fingers. Guess I’ll have to do more testing. LOL
Sometimes I wish it was my thyroid. My problem is my 40-something hormones (or lack of) and my complete and utter lack of self control. Good luck with WW, keep tracking!!
I wish you success on your journey to better health. It’s hard doing what we do (making lots of sweets) to keep ourselves at a healthy weight and adding a thyroid issue to the mix must make it even more challenging. Like, NikkiK, I suffer from that 40 something hormone issue, and man is is harder than ever to lose the pounds. I work at it constantly. So, know you are not alone. I love smoothies and your’s looks great. Enjoy!
Good for you Lisa!! Can’t wait to hear about your journey and cheer you on your way!
YUM!!! sounds amazing!
Being around sweets everyday is the hardest thing for me – I could live on sweets and sometimes I do! I wish you willpower in the journey of life! You are amazing no matter what, and these smoothies are looking pretty good to start the day! In fact, that photo should be on the cover of a magazine!
It is so difficult to work with sweets and control ourselves! I wish you the best on your way to better health … you must take care of yourself. Weight Watchers is a great plan for weight loss and a healthier lifestyle.
I forgot to say … what a great smoothie … I agree with the Partiologist – fantastic photo 🙂
Mmm… this looks amazing! I just love the color and the health benefits 🙂
See you can even make dieting fun! My mouth is watering!
wow!!great
Dr. Oz had Dr. Andrew Weil as a guest on his show a few months ago and he said that a lack of iodine in our diets contributes to a sluggish thyroid. He said that powdered sea kelp is the best source of iodine and is one of the main supplements that he recommends. Just thought I’d share that with you. If you do decide to try taking kelp as a supplement (I do), keep in mind that it often takes a few months before any sort of significant change can be observed.
This smoothie looks so healthy and yummy….can’t wait to try it!! 🙂
Thank you so much Suzette! That is so helpful. I am going to look for a smoothie recipe with kelp and start taking a supplement. THANKS!!
Hi Lisa, someone on Instagram and Twitter is using this recipe as their own. Twitter handle: roxiwatson and IG handle: roxiwatson81.
This person uses lots of other people’s recipes as their own personal creations, they have even used your photos. Just think it’s not right…
Thanks Mia for letting me know. That isn’t very nice is it? 🙁
I will check into it and see what I can do.
