Easy Frankenstein Cookies
Have you ever had a song stuck in your head? You know, one that plays like a record that just won’t stop. Well, Frankenstein is stuck in my head. I am not having bad dreams or anything, I just can’t get him to go away. They say if you have a song stuck in your head you need to listen to the entire thing and it will go away. So I decided to make these easy frankenstein cookies in hopes I can move on to a few more Autumn and Halloween cookies. I hope it works.
To be totally honest, I am glad he was stuck in my head because I really like these guys!
Supplies for Easy Frankenstein Cookies:
Basket Cookie Cutter
Green Icing in a piping bag fitted with a #2 piping tip
Black Icing in a piping bag fitted with a #2 tip
Royal Icing Eyes
Paint brush or black food safe marker for the mouth and stitches
Optional-Airbrush gun with green airbrush color
The basket cutter I used was a gift but, I found some other cutters you can use to make this guy with. You can use this basket cutter , or this purse, or a simple and cute cupcake cuter, or this cupcake cutter, or this cupcake cutter. I am giving you the step by step tutorial for this guy but the main point of this tutorial is to look at your cutters. Seriously look at them. What do you see? Do you see how a basket, flip flop or a number 8 cutter, or a triangle, or even a simple square cutter, can become a cute Frankenstein cookie? Now what other cutters can you use to make him?
Begin by outlining the face with the green icing.
Flood all of the Franks faces with the green icing.
Next airbrush the edges of face with the green airbrush color and let them dry for about 20 minutes or so.
Then, add a green oval nose and airbrush the edges of the nose green.
I didn’t attach the eyes until after the green icing dried because I didn’t want to get any airbrush color on them.
Glue on the eyes with a drop of royal icing. You can use green or white icing. I didn’t want to make another color so I just used green icing. If I were going to ship them, I would not have been lazy and used a drop of white icing to reduce the risk of bleeding. I just don’t think Frank will look good with green eyes.
Next, outline and flood the hair.Paint the mouth and the stitches with a little black food get mixed with a little water. It doesn’t take much food gel to paint on a cookie. If you don’t like painting, you can use a food safe marker and draw the stitches and the mouth once the green icing had dried completely.
Notice the first Frankenstein cookie on the bottom row? His face has a bit of airbrushing. There is even an airbrushed line under the stitches. Well, he was my test cookie. Yep, that easy Frankenstein cookie was the one I practiced on to see what looked good and what didn’t. I liked the simple faces better but, you can make your easy Frankenstein cookies the way you want.
