Fall Color Palette for Cookie Inspiration

Have you ever been to Tennessee in the Fall? If you have, I am pretty sure you will never forget the stunning fall colors if you have. It is hard to describe the beauty that nature shares with us this time of year. The leaves on the trees turn the most beautiful shades of yellow, red, green, and orange. As the light shines through the leaves it looks as if the leaves are glowing and I had to share it with you.

Fall Color Palette from Nature www.thebearfootbaker.comFirst things first. Go outside and take some pictures. It doesn’t matter if you ware making a fall color palette or a summer color palette. Just use nature for your inspiration by taking pictures of trees, the beach or even animals at the zoo.
Then, download your pictures on your computer and open one in PicMonkey.
Add some squares across the bottom of the photo.
Next, use the eyedropper tool to change the color of one square at a time by moving the eyedropper over the image. Once you find a color you like, move on to the next square.
When you fill all the squares, you have a perfect fall color palette straight from nature.

Fall Color Palette from a walk in The Great Smoky Mountains with www.thebearfootbaker.comI took this photo because I though the sun made the leaves on the trees glow. When I started making the color palette, I didn’t realize how dark the colors would be compared to the image. I was happily surprised.

Fall Color Palette from a walk in The Great Smoky Mountains with thebearfootbaker.comWOW! That’s all. Just WOW!

Fall Color Palette from a walk in The Great Smoky Mountains via www.thebearfootbaker.comDon’t worry if the weather isn’t perfect. Hazy days make great fall color palettes also. Just be mindful of where you focus your photo. If I would have focused on the fields and mountains without including the trees that were close to me, look what I would have missed. That deep olive green would have stayed in the woods and would not have made it to my cookie colors.

Just a tip to remember when making a color palette, don’t go super crazy when you are picking colors. I have 6 colors in each of these photos but, when I start mixing icing colors, I may only use 3 or 5. It just depends on what kind and how many cookies I am making. The only thing I know is, it would be hard for me to only pick 3 colors because a fall color palette is like oxygen to me. It gives me life and energy. I think I will go back out today and take some pictures of a few creeks with leaves gently flowing down stream. I wish you could come with me.

Bear hugs,

Lisa
