Simple Candy Corn Cookies

Halloween is upon us! Do you hear the creaky doors and the creepy moans? No? That is because this tutorial is not a scary tutorial. It is a tutorial about some sweet simple candy corn cookies. The reason they are so sweet is well, they are “sugar” cookies. Hehehe

I bet you have made them before but, have you made a candy corn cookie wreath? They are a perfect addition to a dessert table and when you stack them like a wreath, they become a statement because you take something simple and turn it into a centerpiece.

Simple Candy Corn Cookies www.thebearfootbaker.comLet’s talk about flooding and outlining cookies. When you outline and flood a cookie, there are different ways to do it. You can outline a section and wait a few minutes,  then flood that section. Another way is to outline a section and flood immediately. The difference is in the edge. If you wait a few minutes, you will  have a visible edge on each section but, if you flood immediately, it will look flawless and smooth. Mine aren’t flawless but, you get the idea.

Since these cookies look simple, I chose to outline and flood immediately. Outline and flood the top of the simple candy corn cookies with the white icing and the bottom with the yellow icing and let them dry completely.

The wreath was inspired by a candy corn wreath I saw at Hobby Lobby. It made me think of a cookie wreath I made for Christmas last year. Do you have an idea for a cookie wreath? If you do, I would love you to leave a comment telling me about it. Or better yet, send me a picture.

Bear hugs,
