**UPDATE 11\23\19**

When I originally made these cookies I use decorating bags with couplers and tips. Since way back in 2014, tipless bags have been offered and I love them. Here are some that I use, but there are many tipless bags out there. You might want to try a few to see if you like them because they make decorating fun with an easy cleanup process.

Tipless Decorating Bags I use:

Food-Safe Marker

Optional:

Cookie Turntable Swivel for Cookies turntable with the Mini mat
Place your cookies in front of a fan so the icing will dry with a nice shine.

  • Begin by drawing the turkey body on the cookie. It is shaped like a peanut.
  • Then, pipe an outline for the feathers in different colors.
  • Next, pipe the legs and the feet with the orange icing and add dots for the toes because turkey toes are cute!

  • After you outline the feathers you are ready to flood them, but first, I want to talk a little about the wet on wet technique. Wet on wet means you add icing to wet icing that has not dried or crusted over. Then you can make designs by pulling a toothpick or a Boo Boo stick through it. I usually work quickly with one section at a time so the icing doesn’t dry.
  • So, let’s do this. Flood the first feather with the red royal icing and immediately pipe some straight brown lines across the red because you’re about to make a feather.
  • Quickly grab your toothpick and pull it through the feather starting at the top and pull it to the bottom. Only pull the toothpick through it one time or it will alter the look and it won’t look like a feather.  When you reach the bottom, take a good look at your wet on wet royal icing technique.

Repeat the previous steps for all colors of the feathers so your turkey dress cookie will match and be stylish.

Don’t they look cute? You can admire your work for a little while because they need to dry completely before you add the turkey body.

Once the feathers and feet are dry, pipe the little peanut body brown.
Then, add an orange chocolate covered sunflower seed for the beak.
Then add 2-4 mm edible pearls for the eyes.

If you notice, I didn’t add the snood to these cookies. Once I got to the final step, I liked it without the snood. You can add one if you want because hey, it is your cute turkey cookie and you can make it any way you want!

Only two turkeys left! I am excited to share them with you but, I am going to be sad when this turkey challenge is over.

Bear hugs,

Lisa
