Animal Cookies – The End is Near!

The End Is NEAR! It is almost a NEW YEAR! We did it! We celebrated 2014 by watching the ball drop in Time Square and now we are ready to do it again with 2015. We are going to celebrate another New Year and what better way to do it than with cute little animal cookies. These aren’t just any old animal cookies. Nope. They are showing us the end is near by showing us their cute little bottoms. Last year is almost “behind”us and we will march into the future ready to tackle our goals and dreams. Are you with me?

Animal Cookies can help you celebrate the New Year- The END is NEAR! Happy New Year! via www.thebearfootbaker.comThese cookies are great for New Year’s and would be great for an “Over the Hill” birthday party. You could make a few cute signs and banners that say the end is near and make cupcake, a cake and some cookies featuring cute little animal bottoms. The best part is you don’t have to worry about faces. Let’s get started.

Supplies for Animal Cookies:

Mailbox Cookie Cutter

Elephant
Gray
Black

Bear
Brown Icing

Zebra
White
Black icing or Black Food Gel Color and a paint brush or a food safe marker

All of these cookies were decorated with 15 second icing that was placed in a piping bag with a #2 decorating tip.

Then, add a wonky circle for the tail.

Zebra Cookies

Animal Cookies can help you celebrate the New Year- The END is NEAR! Happy New Year! www.thebearfootbaker.comOutline and flood the cookies with white icing and let them dry for about 20 minutes. Add the tail.
Next, you can either add the black icing strips while the white icing is wet, or let the cookie dry completely and paint the stripes with the black food gel color, or draw them with a black food safe marker.

I chose to paint them with food gel so it would reduce the risk of the colors bleeding together. If you want more information on how to paint on a cookie, click here.

Simple Animal Cookies that can help you celebrate the New Year- The END is NEAR! Happy New Year! via www.thebearfootbaker.comI forgot to take pictures of the lion but, he isn’t hard to make. Before you bake the dough, cut out a flower and trim it with the mailbox cutter so it will fit nicely against the body.
Once the cookies are cool, outline and flood the body with the yellow icing.
While the icing is wet, add the feet with the brown icing and let it dry for about 20 minutes.
Then, add a yellow tail with a brown tip and let it dry overnight.
Next, add the orange mane.

The end of 2014 is near but, our baking will never end. I look forward to baking with you in the future!
