Popcorn Candy with Jelly Beans

Have you ever had ‘Popcorn Candy’? Popcorn balls were my favorite sweet popcorn dessert until I tried this recipe. I am not kidding when I say this needs to come with a warning label. It is very addictive and must be shared with your family and friends so you don’t eat all of it yourself. Popcorn Candy Recipe - This stuff is so addictive it should come with a warning label! via thebearfootbaker.comThis recipe is simple and you can add different candy to get different results such as candy corn for Halloween or colorful Jelly Beans for Easter. I wanted to make this for a few people for Valentine’s Day so I needed to add some red candy and red sprinkles.  I went shopping and found the ‘Tabasco Jelly Beans’ and knew I I found the perfect candy.

Supplies for Popcorn Candy:

1-16 ounce bag of Marshmallows
16 cups of Popped Popcorn
1-12 ounce bag of White Chocolate Chips
Tabasco Jelly Beans-add as many or few as you want. I used 1 1/2 bags of the 3.1 ounce size.
Red Sanding Sugar
3 Tablespoons of unsalted butter (or salted butter if you prefer)

Popcorn Candy Recipe - This stuff is so addictive it should come with a warning label! by www.thebearfootbaker.comNow let’s start by popping the popcorn. Have you ever popped it in the microwave in a brown paper bag? It is easy. Add 1/4 cup of popcorn kernels in a brown paper bag and roll the top over three times so the popcorn doesn’t end up all over the microwave. I am not sure if that will really happen but why risk it.
Then, pop it for 3-4 minutes. I go by the old saying that when you don’t hear the kernels pop for a few seconds (one, one-thousand, two one-thousand, three one-thousand) then it is time to remove it. It has always worked for me and it will make about 4 cups of popcorn. Place popped popcorn in a large bowl and set it aside.

Stir constantly. Remove from heat and add a few marshmallows at a time and stir until all is melted. You may need to place the pot back on the stove if they don’t melt easily. Pour mixture over the popped popcorn and stir.

Once the popcorn candy starts to cool, you won’t be able to stir it. It will become firm and delicious.

  1. I have to say, this does sound pretty dangerous! And btw, your blog is looking awesome!!!

  2. These look like fun to make but there is no way I’m even going to attempt going to the grocery store today. We are expecting 15-30″ of snow. My guess is that the store is absolutely packed. That must have been some snow-dance you did on Saturday.

    • Hahahaha! I want to come stay with you!!!!!

Next time I do the snow dance, I will tone it down a little just for you!

      Thanks for making me laugh!
