How to Make Simple Polar Bear Sugar Cookies
Lions, tigers, and bears, oh my! Or in a cookie decorator’s case, we should say something like sugar, butter, and icing, oh yum! Everything we do needs a little sugar and little butter and some delish royal icing. When you add them to cute little polar bear sugar cookies, it’s something we can be proud of. The great thing about these little polar bear cookies is the cookie cutter is so easy you almost feel like the cookies are decorating themselves.

Let’s do this!
Make the Cookies
- Begin by making your sugar cookie dough and cutting out the bear shapes.
- Bake them according to the recipe directions.
- Let the cookies cool completely before you decorate them.
Let the Decorating Begin!
- Outline the polar bear with the white 15-second icing.
- Flood the bear’s head and body and let the royal icing dry completely.
- If you want to use a 4mm black edible dragee for the nose add it while the icing is wet. If you want to use icing you can add it later.
- Flood the scarf area with whatever color you want and let it dry for about twenty minutes.
- The time it takes for the royal icing on the scarf to crust over may not be twenty minutes due to the humidity where you live. You may want to bake an extra cookie and experiment with it so you’ll know approximately how long it will take before your icing is ready to be transformed into an “icing knitted scarf.”
- While the icing is drying, you can add the eyes by placing a drop of black royal icing on the end of the turkey lacer. Gently add it to the polar bear’s face.
- If you’d like to see how simple it is you can watch the video below.
- If you didn’t add an edible pearl for the nose, you can add the royal icing nose now.
- Has it been twenty minutes yet? If so, grab the ball tool and start to gently smash the scarf.
- Be careful not to smash the icing over the edge of the side of the cookie.
If you add a few heart-shaped cookies you can make this guy a sweet bear-hugging Valentine’s Day Cookie! I think it would make a cute Valentine’s Day cookie.
