How to Make Cute Little Jack-O’-Lantern Cookies

It’s finally starting to feel like Fall around here. I think the temperature is going to be in the low sixties and you know what that means, don’t you? It means it’s time to decorate some jack-o’-lantern cookies. You know, the cookies with the cute little faces on them. Sweet Sugarbelle has made it easy for us because she has designed some stamp cookies.

Want to bake some with me?

It’s easy. Just roll out the cookie dough, press the cookie cutter into the dough, and press the stamp into the cookie. Remove the stamp and the cutter and bake it. Then, let the fun begin and decorate it!

You can decorate the entire cookies like I did or you can use colored dough and just decorate the face. The key is to have fun with it.

I don’t have a picture of the airbrushing process, but if you would like to airbrush them, watch the video. It will explain how to do it.

So we talked about how to bake the cookies with the cute little face and now it’s time to make the icing so we can decorate it. Once the cookies cool off it’s time to let the fun begin!

  • Once you bake the cookies you’ll need to decide if you’re going to decorate the entire cookie or just the mouth, nose, and eyes. Oh yeah, don’t forget the stem.
  • I decided to decorate the entire thing. One of my favorite things about these stamp cookies is not stressing over the pattern. All you have to do is press and decorate.
  • Fill in the areas with the colored royal icing and let it dry.

  • Don’t forget to fill in the stem.
  • Let the royal icing dry completely.

  • Outline the jack-o’-lantern cookies and be careful around the eyes.
  • This is the part where the turkey lacer comes in handy. Use it to help get the icing where you want it without messing up the eyes, nose, mouth, and stem.
  • Let the cookies dry completely.
