The Cookie Network- How to Make Christmas Cookies
The Cookie Network- How to Make Christmas Cookies is a fun look at how to use one tutorial on different cookies. The cookies don’t have to be the same shape to work. You can easily adjust and adapt the tutorial to make it work on different cookies as long as they’re basically the same type of cookie. A Santa face pattern can fit on another Santa face as long as you’re willing to adjust it a little. Same thing with the reindeer cookies. Adjust the pattern and decorate your cookies. You’ve got this so let’s get to work!

The other two cookies were made from Meri Meri and they don’t make them anymore. Sad! But the good news is you don’t need those exact cookie cutters because you can follow this tutorial and make it work on almost any Santa face & Reindeer face Cookies. As you watch the video notice how I use the same techniques to make the cookies and it works on both of them.
Royal Icing Colors:
(The royal icing is 15-Second Consistency and was made with AmeriColor Soft Gel Paste Food Color and placed in Disposable Decorating Bags.)
Tan-Ivory
Brown-Warm Brown
White
Red-Super Red or you can use Tulip Red so you don’t have that bitter taste.
Yellow-Lemon Yellow
Blue-Sky Blue
Green-Leaf Green
Gray-Slate Gray
Tools:
Disposable Decorating Bags-Flour Box Bakery or Truly Mad Plastics
Turkey Lacer
4mm Edible Black Dragees
Silver Jewel Dust– I said it was white in the video but I actually used the silver.
Empty 14ML spray bottle for Jewel Dust
Royal Icing Transfers and Free Patterns:
- Medium Eye Candy
- Large Candy Eyes
- Nose Royal Icing Transfer Pattern-This pattern can also be used for eyes or red noses.
- The larger Santa face is the cutter from Meri Meri and it’s not on their site anymore. If you have other Santa cookie cutter you can adjust this tutorial and use it on your Santa face.
- If you’ve got a Santa cookie cutter with a body, the tutorial probably won’t work.
- Same thing with the reindeer cookies. The tutorial will fit both cookies once you adjust it a little bit.
Some Christmas cookie tutorial will fit different cookies with the basic same shape. Just have a little fun and play with your templates and before you know it, your pattern will work on multiple cookies with the same basic shape. Have fun and bake on my friends!
Bear hugs,
I loved the reindeer tutorial–I even have the Meri Meri cutters!!! But what happened to Santa? I can’t wait to see that tutorial too. Your tutorials are wonderful–you make everything uncomplicated with easy to follow directions. Thank you!
What was the spray you used on reindeer? The video cut out and couldn’t see the rest. Also, do you not use tips on your decorating bags? How to you know how much to snip off bag?
Hi Traci,
I added the link to the Jewel Dust under the Supply List. I got mine at The Cookie Countess and I used Silver on the deer. The Jewel Dust bottle under the Jewel Dust is amazing. If it weren’t for that bottle I’d be in trouble! Hahaha
The bags are disposable and you trim the end off to pipe. This was a bit scary at first so only take off a tiny bit. You can trim more if it’s not enough. I love the bags and it saves time doing dishes. LOL
Hi Lisa!
First thank you for sharing your talent and knowledge — you motivate me as a beginner. You are my Go-To for all things cookies!
It’s saying the video link for the tutorial has been removed. Can you repost it?
Thanks!
Actually – I am able to view it on your youtube channel! Thank you for posting!
What did you use for the reindeer nose and how much of coloring do you add for antlers color?
Hi Tina,
I forgot to add the template for the nose! YIKES! I’ve added it now and here it is https://thebearfootbaker.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Nose-Royal-Icing-Transfers.pdf.
I also forgot to add the Silver Jewel Dust link but everything is under the Supply list now. Sorry about the forgetfulness today. 😉
Lisa
As far as adding the Ivory food gel color to the royal icing, just add a little at a time until you get the color you want. 😉
