Recipes:

Cookie Cutters:

  • Santa Hat- Use any Santa hat cutter you have. The one used in this post I bought several years ago and I can’t find it online, but that’s okay. Just use what you have because it will work with this set.
  • Santa’s Coat- Sweater Cookie Cutter from The Cookie Countess
  • Santa’s Pants- This cookie was made with Sugarbelle’s Hat Cookie Cutter. It’s in her Shape Shifters TWO Cookie Cutter Set, but don’t worry if you don’t have it. Here is one on Amazon that will work or if you have a snowman with a hat, you can cut the snowman’s face off and use the hat for this cookie. Turn the hat into pants by cutting a ‘v’ in the bottom center. It works great for Santa’s legs.

Royal Icing Colors:

  • Red- 15-Second Icing Consistency- No Taste Red by Wilton
  • White- Outline Consistency- Americolor Bright White
  • Black- 15-Second Icing Consistency- Americolor Super Black

How to Make Cookies for Poor Old Tired Santa Video:

I hope you enjoy this video as much as Santa enjoys delivering toys to all the good little boys and girls. As you watch notice how the airbrushing adds a fun finish to each cookie that helps show all of his hard work. I hope you enjoy the cookies!

Santa Hat Cookie:

  • Begin by drawing your pattern on your Santa hat cookie with a food-safe marker.
  • With the white outline consistency of royal icing pipe the fur by adding wavy lines on the rim and the ball of the hat.
  • Let the white dry for about twenty minutes in front of a fan.
  • Outline the hat with the red 15-Second Consistency royal icing. Let the outline dry for about ten minutes before you flood.
  • Flood the hat with the red royal icing and place it in front of the fan and let it dry for about thirty minutes.
  • Then, use a cake ball tool, a measuring spoon, or a melon baller to push in the icing to make it wrinkled and worn in a few places so it will look like he’s had a long day.
  • Let it dry for a least thirty minutes before you airbrush.

Airbrush:

  • If you’d like to see the airbrush in action, you can watch the video to see the simple process.
  • Add brown airbrush color to your machine and spray around the edges and the brim and ball of the hat. I used The Cookie Countess Totally Brown to make all the cookies look like Santa had a long day.
  • After you airbrush them let them dry before you package them.

If you don’t have an airbrush system don’t worry. You can use a paintbrush to paint on the color to give your cookies that worn look. Just paint around the edges and inside the dents, you made in the icing and your poor old Santa cookies will look nice and worn out.

Santa’s Slacks:

  • Outline and flood Santa’s boots with the black 15-Second royal icing.
  • Then outline and flood the pants with the red 15-Second royal icing.
  • Let it dry for about thirty minutes.
  • Then, use the cake ball tool to push on the icing to make it look rough.
  • Let it dry for about thirty minutes before you airbrush the edges.

Airbrush:

  • Airbrush the edges of the pants, boots, and the dents you made in the icing.
  • After you airbrush the edges of the pants and the boots, use the white outline icing to add the fur to his pants.
  • After the fur dries airbrush it with the brown airbrush color.
  • Let it dry completely before you package them.

Santa’s Jacket:Christmas Cookies, Santa suit, Christmas in July cookies, sugar cookies, royal icing, Santa suit

  • Draw the pattern on Santa’s jacket with a food-safe marker.
  • Add a little red royal icing inside the collar and at the bottom of the jacket and use a paintbrush to smooth the icing and make it flat. This is a great way to add depth to a cookie.
  • Outline and flood the sides of the jacket with the red royal icing.
  • Here is where you need to make a choice. I did both, but you don’t need to do that. You can paint inside the collar and at the bottom of the jacket with the airbrush color or you can airbrush those areas to make them look darker as if they’re inside the jacket. It’s your choice so you choose.
  • Let it dry for about thirty minutes.
  • Then, use the cake ball tool to push on the icing to make it look rough. I love how this tool makes the clothes look worn and it’s fun to use. Like I said before if you don’t have a ball tool try using the back of a melon baller or use your measuring tools like the back of a teaspoon or a tablespoon. I’m sure you have something that will make the little dents.
  • Let it dry for about thirty minutes before you airbrush the edges.

Airbrush the Jacket:

  • Airbrush the edges of the jacket with the brown airbrush color and don’t forget to airbrush the dents you made in the icing.
  • After you airbrush the edges of the jacket, use the white outline icing to add the fur. You can watch the video and see how to add it to one side of the fur to the jacket and wait for about twenty minutes and add it to the other side so it will look like the jacket will open.
  • After the fur dries airbrush it with the brown airbrush color.
  • Let it dry completely before you package them.

Poor old tired Santa. He needs a good set of sugar cookies so let’s make some. He might be tired, but at least he’ll be happy after we show him a little love with the sugar cookies we made him. Poor guy. I hope he gets a little rest before December.

Bear hugs,

Lisa
