If you haven’t make royal icing transfers before it’s simple. All you need is a flat surface (I use a piece of foam board I cut a little larger than the size of my printed patterns), wax paper, tape, and your royal icing. Oh yeah, you’ll need a few patterns which I’ll provide for free. Then, you can make these cute decorations and wait for them to dry completely before you remove them. Then, store them in an airtight container away from the sun until you’re ready to make your cookies.

I love these little royal icing candy decorations because they allow me to decorate without worrying about messing up a cookie. If I make a mistake on one of these I can scrape it oof the wax paper and start over with ease. And you can make the decorations a week, a month, or months ahead of time. They’re cute, simple, and FREE!

Are you ready for your patterns? I thought since it’s summer we could start with some watermelon patterns. I made four different patterns for you to enjoy today. Will you do me a favor? If you make some will you tag me on Instagram or on Facebook? I’d love to see what you make!

Watermelon is one of those fruits I look forward to eating all winter long because you can’t find a good watermelon around here when it’s cold outside. If we make our own candy melons with royal icing we can pretend we have the yummy fruit even if there’s snow on the ground.

Seeds:

Before we go I thought I’d explain this last template. It’s watermelon seeds you can make before you start working on your watermelon royal icing transfers. We all know you need a good seed pattern so you don’t have to spend all that time making them as you make the royal icing transfers. Seed prep is a great thing, my friends!
