It had been a drab week up here in Northwest Indiana with back 2 back nights of frozen pre-packaged taquitos and leftovers … your Dump Cake Recipe to the rescue last Thursday. NO ONE trusted the idea or the recipe EVERYONE loved it. I was asked more than once, “Are you SUUUUURE we just dump the box of cake mix ontop????” Great post. Our Thursday night thanks you! ????

Hi Lisa! I haven’t made a dump cake in a couple years and I have no idea why! This version, Caramel Apple is one I need to make and soon, too. It’s way to delicious looking to pass up plus, throw in vanilla ice cream and it is a MUST!!!

Lisa, I love making dump cakes. Gooey Butter Cake is a staple in St. Louis. Supposedly it was “invented” here. (?) Anyway, I can’t wait to give yours a try. It looks so good! 🙂

Made a "dump cake" for the first time back in the 70's. It was easy. A friend stopped by during dinner but had already eaten so I fixed her a plate from the dump cake. We'd all been laughing about the name. Someone jokingly told my friend to call after she'd tried it to make sure she lived. We finished dinner and then all had a bowl of the dump cake ourselves. After the dessert, someone realized that my friend had never called us back. HAHAHA Your recipe made me laugh, remembering to way back then. This caramel/apple version looks delish so I'm gonna give it a "go". Tavette - S. Fla. What size pan did you use?
