Hi JoAnn,

I’m sorry I’m slow with the reply to this but you have great questions.
The fondant will dry hard like normal fondant. You can add the spiders while the icing is wet or use a little royal icing to attach them once the royal icing on the cookie is dry. You can let the spiders dry completely before you add them or add them while they’re wet. These are pretty forgiving when you make them.

This is an old thread, but maybe I’ll get a reply. Will fondant dry hard? How long should the spiders dry? Can I put them on the cookie while the royal icing is still wet? Or just attach with a dab of icing or a little water? And do the spiders need to be dried all way before attaching to the cookies?

I make my own fondant and I have recpies for three different sizes. You can find them all here: http://thebearfootbaker.com/cakes-pies/fondant/

The small batch is really good for things like the spiders. It is enough to make them without having a ton left over.

It not spiders ..but snakes that freak me out!

Spiders totally freak me out, but these fondant spiders are really cool. Even though they are so realistic looking, I’d be more than happy to eat one:)
