Mind-blowing cookie decorating isn’t difficult with a little help from someone who had the same struggles as you’ve had. Yes, years ago when I started I didn’t know about 15-Second Consistency nor did I know what caused craters or why my icing didn’t dry with a nice shine. As far as baking sugar cookies, I knew how to follow a recipe, but I didn’t know how to make the surface flat or how to keep my cookies from spreading as they baked.

Strawberry Crinkle Cookies are great for Valentine’s Day. You can make a batch from scratch or you can use a simple strawberry cake mix to make them. If I choose to use a cake mix I know I’ll get a great tasting cookie and I won’t have to spend all day cleaning the kitchen so it’s a win, win, win for me. Do you like to make fun projects with the kids during the summer? One of my favorite things to make is a fun fruit pizza. I always think I have to have a plan on how to make them and how I want them to look. You don’t have to stress or worry when you make them. Watching the kid’s make them has taught me to pick the fruit, put it on the cookie, and eat it! You don’t have to place them on the cookie perfectly or make the colors match. You just need to remember it’s a cookie topped with wonderful fruit and it’s delicious!

One of the questions I get asked a lot is about royal icing and what other types of frostings taste good on sugar cookies. I’m sure you’ve probably seen many different sugar cookie recipes online. Trying to decide which frosting recipes will compliment it can get confusing. Cream cheese frosting is classic and if you don’t have time to wait for the royal icing to dry, you should try this recipe.

Don’t get me wrong, I personally love royal icing because you can achieve all kinds of different looks and designs with it. You can also package and stack the cookies which makes it easy to give away or ship. Adding a different frosting to a basic sugar cookie recipe is an easy way to get a delicious cookie with a recipe you know and trust.
