The link to Karen's cookies won't work. I have spent the past year studying your blog. I am an experienced Baker and candy maker who wants to attempt sugar cookies and royal icing. I noticed it looked like you use plastic wrap inside your bags and I would really like to know how you do this. I would appriciate the help of you could let me know how to do this. Thanks.

I totally agree with you about reusing piping bags, Lisa! Fortunately, I have reusable piping bags that I bought on Amazon. They’re part of a set, which included 3 reusable piping bags in 3 different sizes (small, medium, and large), 2 standard couplers, 2 tri-color couplers, and 6 icing bag ties…didn’t know much about Chefast until I bought this lovely set… glad I found them!

In reply to <a href="https://thebearfootbaker.com/reuse-piping-bags/#comment-29603">Spenser</a>.

That's a great tip Spenser. I prefer using and washing the disposable bags and I know a lot of people here in the U.S. do as well. I like being able to see the icing colors through the bag. I honestly don't see the fabric kind that often, but the disposable bags are available in most craft stores.

As most things it's a personal choice on what you like best.

Bear hugs,

Why don't you just use the reusable fabric kind? They are made exactly for this, unless they aren't available in the U.S?

I. Hate. New. Bags. Bernie already knows death to the person that throws mine away. I like to brag that I've been working out of the same 200 bags since the beginning. At first it was to save money. Now I just prefer the softer worn bags. Even of they get holes, with Karen's trick I never ever have to worry. THIS TIP IS THE BEST!

i used to reuse them... but then my aunt made fun of me one day for wasting my time. now i buy them in bulk and usually don't make more than a couple colors of outline consistency anyway (and i use bottles for the flood), so i don't go through them that fast.

Buttercream is almost impossible to wash out! LOL I have 2 sets of bags and mark a big BC on the ones I use for buttercream. I don't want to get them mixed up no matter how hard I scrub them.

I've been washing my bags for years. Only royal icing, tho. There's a reason I buy DISPOSABLE bags for buttercream! Plus, I wouldn't want to risk mixing my buttercream bags with my royal bags just in case I miss a spot!
Sometimes I have a dozen or more bags to dry, so here's what I do. I have large square of styrofoam (that I've been using for years). I poke long bamboo skewers into the block of styro and stand each wet bag over a skewer to dry. This way, they won't tip over or collapse onto themselves and I can move them out of my way.
