I came across your tutorial regarding the use of a nylon stocking for super fine icing lines. Which "second rule" do you use for the 0 and 00 tip sizes?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I haven't tried the cheesecloth but know others who said it didn't work as well. Someone out there in the wonderful world of cookies thought of cutting off a piece of the hose and placing it over the coupler before they added the decorating tip. I've tried this and it worked. It's better than getting icing all over your hands.

Hope this helps!

I assume the answer is no, but would cheesecloth work similarly? Or is it not "fine" enough of a mesh?

In reply to <a href="https://thebearfootbaker.com/tip-for-no-clog-0-and-00-pme-tips/#comment-26694">NAstya</a>.

Hello!

I don't like clogged tips either. They are so annoying. I have a few tips for you.

If the decorating tips get clogged a lot, you might want to sift your powdered sugar before you make the icing. If the powdered sugar has clumps then the icing will probably have clumps. Sifting will help a lot!

2. If the icing spreads once it is piped then it is too thin. Try making it a little thicker. Not so thick that it hurts your hand when you pipe or not to the point that the icing will curl when you squeeze the bag. If it does that then it is too thick. Play around with the consistency and try to find one that will hold its shape and isn't impossible to squeeze out of the bag.

Hope this helps!
