Royal Icing Transfers-Stocking Up

The last few days have been busy for our local meteorologists trying to predict what kind of weather we were going to have today.  The gorgeous Smoky Mountains make it difficult to always see what’s coming. One thing that all three local stations agreed on was it was going to be cold and snowy. Boy did they get it right!

I am sitting here looking out my kitchen window at my snow covered yard wondering when the snow and ice will allow me to leave my house. Yep. I am snowed in. Living in the mountains presents a bit of a problem in the winter because we are at a higher elevation which means thing freeze and snow will stick around for a few days. I don’t even want to take a chance driving to the store because if you make one wrong move, you could end up at the bottom of a mountain or in a creek like we did last year. So today, I will stay home in my warm kitchen and stock up on royal icing transfers. Why not make cookies you ask? Well, I am out of flour. I didn’t stock up.

Royal Icing Transfers- Stocking Up with thebearfootbaker.comI may not have flour but, I can make some royal icing flours. But why stop there? I am going to make some royal icing noses, eyes and a few other cute royal icing transfers so I can stock up. I am out of everything.

I keep wondering how I could run out of eyes during the holidays. I am not going to let it happen again. I will be prepared from this day forward. I keep imagining the scene in “Gone with the Wind” where Scarlett O’Hara says she will never go hungry again. Here, it is this one:

This is me saying, “I will never run out of royal icing transfers again!” Only I am not in a field because I am wrapped in a blanket with gloves with no finger tips because I cut them off so I could type and stay warm. And I am not hungry, I just need royal icing transfer eyes. Hehehehehe.

Royal Icing Transfers-Stocking Up by thebearfootbaker.comIf you haven’t made royal icing ribbon roses you need to. They are great for Valentine’s Day cookies. If you need a tutorial on how to make them, click here.

It feels so good to have royal icing transfers again. I just hope the snow and ice melt so I can go to the store tomorrow for more flour. If not, I will see what other royal icing transfers I can make.

PS- I didn’t make any royal icing templates during Christmas. I wanted to but, time got away from me. I will start making them for you again soon.
