Easy Christmas Royal Icing Transfers
I wanted to make snow globe cookies for a long time now. I don’t know what kept me from doing it but, a perfect opportunity came along and I finally got a chance to make them. It’s late and Christmas is knocking on the door but the deer can also be used with other woodland cookies. Who says snow globes can only be made at Christmas time? Not me.
These cookies were fun to make because I made the royal icing transfers ahead of time. That is the great thing about transfers. They make my job easier. I am already working on some for Valentine’s day and I will share them with you soon so we can enjoy the busy decorating seasons instead of stressing over them.
Supplies for Easy Christmas Royal Icing Transfers:

Gingerbread Men Transfers:
Begin by printing the gingerbread pattern and then tape it to the back of a baking sheet. Next, tape a piece of wax paper on top of the pattern and make sure there are no wrinkles in the paper because it can cause your transfers to be wonky.
Then, start piping the gingerbread men with the brown icing. While the icing is wet, add the eyes and the little white buttons. Notice the shapes of the little men. I used the pattern as a guide and made some skinny and some thicker. Use the pattern to create different shapes so you don’t have to use 3 or 4 different templates. Let them dry completely.
Once they are completely dry, you can remove them from the wax paper. But first, cut the wax paper into little squares so they will be easier remove and you won’t take a chance on breaking your other little men.
Store them in an airtight container and add the rest of the details when you place them on the cookie.
I love these little guys! The blue and red make me happy!
Reindeer Transfers:
Do you know where I got this reindeer pattern from? I got it from The Cookie Countess. I used a stencil and my airbrush gun to make the cutest little woodland reindeer royal icing reindeer transfers. You should totally go check out her shop. It is full of wonderful stencils that can be made into royal icing transfers. I am already working on some for Valentine’s Day and Easter. Thank you Hillary for making things easy for us!

Remember, if you don’t have an airbrush gun, don’t worry. You can trace the pattern onto a piece of paper to make the pattern.
For the deer royal icing transfers, spray the pattern onto a piece of paper. I used parchment paper and it worked well but, it needs to dry for a few minutes to prevent smudges.
Next, tape the pattern onto the back of the baking sheet.
Then, cover it with a piece of wax paper and tape it into place. Make sure you don’t have any wrinkles.
Pipe the antlers with the ivory-colored icing.
Next, outline and flood the deer with the tan icing.
While the icing is wet, add 2 small nonpareils or black icing dots for the eyes and the nose.
Then, add a few white dots to the back and one to the tail and let it dry completely.
As you can see, I added black to the feet on a few of the deer. Well, that is unnecessary because you will want to make the snow (icing) come over the feet to make it look like they are standing in the snow when you place it on the snow globe. You can do it if you want or if you are going to to use the deer on a different cookie but, for these, you can skip that step.
My icing did something a little strange. I have made so many different things this Christmas so I think a drop of oil may have been mixed with my icing.
See how the feet are covered in snow? I also forgot to tell you that you can reverse the stencil so you can make the reindeer look at each other. Add a little heart to show they are in love! Awe!
