How to make Fun Fondant Spiders for Halloween
Do you know the definition of arachnophobia? Arachnophobia is an extreme or irrational fear of spiders. I am not a huge fan of spiders but thank goodness I am not arachnophobic because I see spiders here all the time. Some of them are big and some of them are small but they are all creepy! And you know something funny, they were all inspirations for these fondant spiders. I hope these are a little cuter than the real thing! Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, you can eat these instead of running from them. Sweet revenge!
How to make Fun Fondant Spiders for Halloween:
Begin by rolling a ball for each spiders body and a smaller one for the spiders head. Use a little water to act as glue so they will stick together.
Next, you need to roll a long thin piece of the back fondant to make the legs. I like to use my fondant smoother to to help roll out the “snake” nice an thin and it keeps it smooth.
Once your fondant is rolled into a nice skinny long snake, use the sharp knife to cut 4 legs that are equal in length.
Line the legs up…
And give them a pinch in the middle.
Once they are pinched put a little water where you pinched them together.
Next, place the body on the legs where you placed the water and press down until the body stays in place.
Here is a little video incase you want to see the spider come to life! MUHAHAHAHAHA!
Creepy aren’t they!If you want to know to make the cookies I can’t tell you because it is secret! Yeah right! Had you going for a minute didn’t I!
All you need to do is outline and flood some round cookies with yellow and orange icing and let them dry completely. Then you find a cute spider web stamp ( I got mine a local store but this is the stamp I have) and use some food gel color to stamp on the web. If you want to know how to stamp on a cookie, you can see how to do that here.
Once the spiders are dry and the cookies are dry, use a little icing to glue the spiders in place. Then share the cookies with some friends but make sure that they don’t have arachnophobia! That could be scary!
