How to Make Easy Peach Cookies | The Bearfoot Baker

Easy Peach Cookies That’ll Make You Think You’re in Georgia! Isn’t that a cheesy title for these cute little peach cookies? Don’t judge because there is a story behind it.

Easy Peach Cookies That'll Make You Think You're in Georgia | The Bearfoot Baker

Are you ready for the peach cookies story? Here goes. My oldest son moved to Georgia and dear hubby and I visit as often as we can. We love our kids and we love our grandkids so driving to Georgia is one of the great trips of our life. As we drive through all the cute little towns I’m telling Alan to stop at antique stores and fruit stands so I can buy fun things for the blog and peaches. Yep! I need a peach!

MY LATEST VIDEOS

I’ve been disappointed the last three times we’ve driven down because I haven’t been able to buy peaches. The weather hasn’t been good for peaches. due to weather. Due to a warm winter in 2017, peach growers were worried about the peaches and were afraid the crops would be affected. Then, they had a late freeze in March and worried that it damaged the remaining fruit. At the end of July, they said it was bad. Eighty to ninety percent of the peach crop was lost.

I know I was sad that I didn’t get to buy peaches in Georgia, but that’s not the worst part. The worst part was the jobs and money that were lost. I wish the weather was better and everyone got to keep their jobs. Weather causes damage all the time with tornados, floods, hurricanes, snow, ice storms, blizzards, and mudslides just to mention some of them. I pray for you all to stay safe. I don’t want anyone to get hurt or to lose their jobs because of weather.

So long story short (too late), that is why I named this post ‘Easy Peach Cookies That’ll Make You Think You’re in Georgia!’ Now don’t yell at me. I know there are other states that produce a lot of peaches and I’m very thankful for them. They make us happy with the ability to grill peaches, make peach ice cream, peach fritters, peach cobbler, peach muffins, and all kinds of wonderful peach goodness. I’m so thankful for them!

Since I didn’t get to purchase peaches let’s do what cookie decorators do best, let’s make some peach cookies. Oh yeah, as far as the antiques, I’m still working on Alan. Maybe one day he’ll love them as much as I do.

Simple Peach Cookies That'll Make You Think You're in Georgia | The Bearfoot Baker

  • Make the cookie dough and cut out the peaches with a peach cookie cutter or another cutter like Sugarbell’s snowman cutter.
  • You don’t have to do this but it helps me, trace the cookie cutter on a piece of paper and draw the shape. Once you have something you like cut it out.
  • Cut the line you made but don’t cut it off all the way. Leave it attached so all the lines on your peaches will be in the same place.
  • Use the paper peach and the food safe marker to draw the line on the cookies.
  • Outline the peach with the yellowish color.
  • Outline and flood the stem with the brown royal icing.
  • Let it dry for a couple of minutes.
  • Add some of the peach-colored royal icing to the smaller side of the peach body and use a paintbrush to spread the icing out. When you use the paintbrush it will make the larger side of the peach look, well, larger.

  • While the peach body is wet, sprinkle it with the white sanding sugar and shake off the excess.
  • Next, flood the other side of the peach cookie with the yellowish royal icing and sprinkle it with sanding sugar.
  • Shake off the excess.
  • The airbrush colors that were used are AmeriColor Amerimist Tulip Red and Cookie Countess Tangerine Dream. I added a little more Tangerine Dream then I did the Tulip Red. Just play around with it until you get a color you like.

  • Spray the edges with the peach color you just made and don’t forget to spray the line between the larger and smaller half so it’ll look like a peach when you’re done decorating.
  • Grab the Tulip Red Airbrush color and get ready to add some final details.

  • To get a good idea of how to add the Tulip Red Airbrush color you should watch the video below. Basically, all you need to do is go around the edges again and add a pop of red where you think it needs to go. Like I said, the video might help you see how to do it since you’re adding a color to something that has already been airbrushed.

  • Make some fondant and color it with the Electric Green Food Gel Color.
  • Roll out the fondant and cut out the leaves.
  • Place the leaf on the styrofoam and use the back of the knife to make the line down the center.
  • Use a ball roller to push down the sides of the leaf so it’ll curl a little.
  • Use a piece of paper towel rolled into a ball or something that will hold the shape you’re trying to make. I just had the ball tools in front of me and decided to use them. Hey, they worked.
  • You’ll need to make the leaves ahead of time so they’ll have time to dry.
  • Once they’re dry, airbrush the line with the Leaf Green airbrush color.
  • Next, hold the airbrush away from the leaves and gently spray them with a mixture of Leaf Green and Electric Green airbrush colors. Adding the extra color will help them look a little more uniform.

  • Now all you have to do is attach them to the peach cookies.
  • Place a few drops of royal icing to the back of the leaves to hold them in place.
  • Place it in the cookie and smile!
  • Be careful when you package or place them on a platter because the leaves may break.

Easy Peach Cookies Video

As you watch the video pay attention to the addition of the red airbrush color on the peaches and the green airbrush color on the leaves. It’s simple, but while you’re airbrushing it is easy to make your peach cookies look like an apple cookie instead of peach.
