The title of this post might be a little confusing because it is “Gift Ideas for Under $35 for New Cookie Decorators” and the point is, you can get everything you need to get a decorator started for under $35! How awesome is that because it means you can eat their sugar cookies all the time! You might have thought that $35 was one gift, but its way more than that. You can get your friends hooked on cookie decorating if you invest $35 or less in some supplies. That’s not only a deal for the person your giving the gift to, its a deal for you and you can talk and eat cookies!

I’m not telling you this so you’ll buy one of my Sugar Cookie Recipe EBooks for $4.99. I’m telling you to pick what you think your friend will need and get them hooked with the rest of us decorators. Remember, my goal is to get everyone in the world to decorate cookies. It might not happen this Christmas, but hopefully, it will soon. Fingers crossed!

We all need something to put the icing in so pick your piping preference. Do you want a bottle, a disposable bag or a tipless bag? Pick one and go for it.

When we decorate cookies we will need something like a turkey lacer, toothpicks, or BooBoo Stick to help us pop the air bubbles and help push the icing into place. You don’t have to buy a turkey lacer, but one was given to me and I use it everytime I make cookies. Thanks, Heather! You can use a toothpick or buy a BooBoo Stick.

This spray bottle was one of the answers to my big icing questions. Gail from One Tough Cookie told us about this and she said it would help with our icing. I still think that’s the understatement of the century. Instead of trying to add a little water to your icing to get it the right consistency, just give it a little spray and you’ll have the right amount of icing before you know it. SO HELPFUL!

Do you feel like a cookie doctor? If so, grab a pair of tweezers for your cookies so you’ll have them when you need to add eyes or sprinkles. You can find tweezers at Wal-Mart in the baking aisle so you don’t have to pay to ship them. Just keep in mind they are helpful.

Color! Color is wonderful and makes cookies and other things happy. Soft Gel Paste Food Colors is really good to color cookies because it’s thicker than food color that will change the consistency of your icing.

Last but not least, you’ll need to purchase a few cookie cutters. What kind of shapes do you think your friend will like? Hearts, animals, flowers, or shapes? Cookie cutters are everywhere these days go grab one or two and get them started. Hopefully, you’ll have a fellow cookie friend to share ideas and icing colors with.
