Father’s Day is almost here and I was thinking about making a few cookies for the dad’s in my life. I didn’t want to spend a lot of time planing and making something with a lot of colors because I know my dad will like anything I make. I decided this year not to turn his tongue black with BBQ cookies or spend hours and hours making vintage car cookies. This year, I decided to make these simple star cookies. I saw this card on Pinterest and knew I had found a simple design that would work perfectly and would let him know I think he is a star.

I found this image and knew it would make a marvelous manly set and therefore would be perfect for Father’s Day.

Dad You're a Star-Cookies with Free Printable Tags via www.thebearfootbaker.comMy plan was to place the star cookies in a jar and add one of the tags but plans change. Well, more like I ran out of time before the big rain storm hit to take pretty pictures of the stars in jars. Please forgive me for letting Mother Nature win this one.

If you like the blue colors, you can easily mix them by starting with sky blue. Then, make each one a little darker than the one before by adding a little Royal Blue. For the last color, I added a small amount of black to get that deep color that was in the inspiration picture and liked the way it turned out.

The yellow and orange really stand out against the blue colors.Make Really Simple Star Cookies for Father's Day with a Free Printable Tag via thebearfootbaker.comIf you don’t want to use blue, mix up your favorite colors or your dad’s favorite colors from his sports team and start decorating the stars. I am sure he will love anything you make for him. And you can get the kids involved and have them add sprinkles or sanding sugar. With the kids helping, these cookies may be more fun to make then they are to eat.
