Blueberry Banana Smoothie
I know summer isn’t officially over until September 22 but, I am feeling a little pressure to make more smoothies before the fruit goes out of season. I had a lot of blueberries and bananas on hand so I made a blueberry banana smoothie. I can’t wait until tomorrow morning to have another one. YUM!
Blueberries taste great and I have read that there is a new study that shows if you eat blueberries, you can improve your memory. With all the thyroid issues I have, I need all the help I can get.
Look at these beautiful berries.
I froze several pints of these so I could enjoy them all year. I also canned some green beans and froze corn. I think I am becoming a fruit and vegetable hoarder! Maybe I am prepareing for the long cold snowy winter we have coming. (Yes, I think it is going to snow a lot this winter.)
If you drink a smoothie in the winter, you don’t have to worry about it melting. Just saying.
Supplies for Blueberry Banana Smoothie:
2 cups fresh blueberries
1 banana
1 cup low-fat frozen yogurt
1 tsp. of honey
ice (optional)
I fully intended to use ice in the blueberry banana smoothie but, I didn’t use it in the picture. I made another and added the ice. I like it both ways so it is up to you if you add it or not.
I also added a little honey. I heard local honey helps people with allergies and I am testing it. So far nothing but, I know honey is good for you. It is made by bees so it has to be good for us.
Here are more smoothie and lemonade recipes for you to try. I think I want to make one more before summer ends. What flavor do you think I should make?

I love this. I make something similar, well not really similar but exactly like this.
Hi Lisa,
I haven’t had breakfast yet and this looks like the perfect thing to make. Delicious and so good for you too!
Yum! I’m bookmarking this for later, when I start to crave berries in October : ) We got a TON of blueberries from our CSA, and we’ve been freezing them so we can extend the summer harvest into fall.
I’ve got blueberries calling my name to make them into these smoothies – now I just have to get the bananas and I’m set! Or I could just come to your house in the morning! 🙂
Oh yum! I’m ready for fall, but I’ll miss the beautiful, fresh produce!
