Celebrate the Red White and Blue with these July 4th Cookies

Can you believe it’s almost July 4, 2022? I can’t because time goes by so fast. This year I decided to make some super easy July 4th cookies to celebrate. It’s a simple design and a great set to decorate with the kids. You only need three colors and a few sprinkles.

Let’s get started.

  • Begin by making your cookies and royal icing. All the royal icing is outline consistency so it’s super simple.
  • Remember to let your cookies come to room temperature before you begin decorating or your royal icing won’t be happy.
  • Pipe some red royal icing zig-zag lines on the top of the topsy turvy cake cookie.

  • Repeat on the middle of the cake cookie with the white royal icing.

  • Last but not least repeat using the blue royal icing on the bottom of the cake cookie.

  • Add a few white nonpareils and sixlets and let the cookies dry completely.

Okay, when I say easy I mean easy! These are fun and cute and you can make so many other cookies using this technique. Look at those little flag cake cookies in the background. The same technique was used and they turned out really well. It’s another great cookie to make with kids.

Have fun and stay safe this July 4th. And do me a favor,  eat a sugar cookie for me!

Bear hugs,

Lisa
