Monster Smoothies for Halloween
I like making food fun for kids. If you have a kid that won’t eat fruit then give them monster smoothies with cute marshmallow eyes and watch it disappear. They will be so busy thinking you are the coolest mom on the planet that they won’t notice you just gave them a glass full of fresh fruit.
When I was a kid you couldn’t pay me to eat fruit and veggies. Dinner was battle time for me. Why would I eat fruit and veggies because my mom was the best baker in the world? Everyone was always oohing and awing over her desserts, but I never heard anyone give her a standing ovation for Brussels sprouts. She might have had an easier time tricking me if she would have given me my fruit in the form of a monster smoothie.
Supplies for Monster Smoothies Eyes:
Cute Paper Straws
2 Chocolate Chips
Icing or melted white chocolate to glue on the eyes.
Pineapple Mango Smoothie
Blueberry Banana Smoothie
Honeydew Kiwi Lime Smoothie
Pomegranate Berry Smoothie
Monster Glasses-I found these at Old Time Pottery and they worked perfectly! I can’t find a direct link for them but, I did find some similar at Crate&Barrel and Katom. You might look at your local Wal-Mart or Dollar General Store before you order them online.
The eyes are so easy to make that your kids might actually make you one. Wouldn’t that be nice?
The cute monster eyes are made with 2 straws, 2 marshmallows, and 2 chocolate chips.
Begin by poking a hole in the round size of each marshmallow with a skewer. A skewer is sharper than a straw so it will make a nice hole for your straw. It will also help keep your straw clean.
Then, slide the straw into the hole you made with the skewer. To know where to place the marshmallow eyes, measure your glass so you will know how far down the straw to slide the eyes.
Next, use the skewer to poke a small hole into the flat part of the marshmallow. Then, melt a little white chocolate to use as glue to attach the chocolate chip to the marshmallow. Follow the melting directions on the chocolate package.
Then, dip the pointed side of the chocolate chip into the melted chocolate and place it in the hole you made with the skewer.
Let the eyes dry completely so the chocolate chips will stay in place. Once they are dry, add them to your favorite smoothie and voila, you have a healthy monster smoothie for your kiddos.

I hope your kids like fruit and veggies more than I did. If not, I feel for you and hope these monster smoothies’ help. If you find a creative way to get them to eat Brussels sprouts let me know. Maybe I will give them a try. Maybe?
Perfect glasses is right! These are too darn cute!
Smoothies go down so easy, I would not have a problem drinking them all! Every one of these recipes along with their photos should be in a smoothie recipe book – of course you would be the Bearfoot author!
Oh my gosh…these all look AMAZING and I love the little Monster ones! My mouth is watering just looking at these! I must try!
You made me giggle … the eyeballs and glasses are perfect! The next time I’m in Tennessee I must go to Old Time Pottery 🙂
Another great recipe! I love the buggy marshmallow eyes! : )
So cute, Lisa! I’m not looking forward to the veggie battles with our little one, even though we have lots of time until then!
I could drink a smoothie every day and your’s look great. I love the googly eyes on the straws. So fun for kids.
I love smoothies! These all look fantastic but the monster one …well they are just so very cool, such a creative way to serve the smoothie. Love the first picture!
Yay! A healthy Halloween treat! I’m all for candy, but around Halloween time, it just gets out of control. These are the perfect alternative. My girls love smoothies, and they’ll go nuts over the monster eyes 🙂
Cute and so much fun! Very clever!
Ack!! Adorable!! I’m soo going to use this in the kids cooking classes I teach next week. 😀
I hope they like them! It is a simple way to get them to eat fruit 😉 PS-It takes a few minutes for the chocolate chip to dry and stay on the marshmallows so you may want to make them first. Have fun!!
