LOOK at it! Chocolate cake, ice cream, hot fudge, Cool Whip all with a cherry on top! Hot Fudge Cake one of my families favorite desserts. It is by far one of the easiest things I make. You can make it with a box cake mix or make a chocolate cake from scratch. Whatever you decide to use, it is sure to please.
This little cake is a copy from a dessert we get from one of my hubby’s favorite restaurants, Shoney’s. It is not my favorite but, I go for the hot fudge cake. We have been going there for years ordering this and one day we decided to make it at home and have been making it ever since.

Chocolate Cake Mix
Vanilla Ice Cream
Cherry for the top
Another thing I like about hot fudge cake is you can cut it into cute shapes before you assemble it. It is cute in squares, circles, hearts, triangles and many more shapes.
It is such a simple cake to make you may want people to think you worked really hard to make it so using cookie cutters will make it look like you spent a lot of time on it! We will be the only ones that know how simple it is.
- Start by baking the chocolate cake following the directions on the back of the box. You can make one from scratch if you like.
- Then, let it cool.
- Cut the cake in squares then in half horizontally.
Next, cut or scoop some ice cream and place it in the middle of cake pieces. Again, I cut a piece and used the heart cutter to make it look cute. Only add ice cream to the pieces you are going to eat now so the ice doesn’t melt or you don’t dry the cake out in the fridge.
Now for the good part! Warm up the hot fudge and spoon some over the top of the cake. Top with the Cool Whip and add the cherry on top. Oh my stars!!! Just look how the hot fudge is melting the Cool Whip! I am going to go eat this right now. Bye.
