Elf Cookies with any Elf Cutter
Please don’t think I am crazy for posting Christmas cookie now but, I wanted to do a few Christmas in July cookies this year. The holidays are so busy that I never get enough time to post all the cookies I want to make so, it only makes sense to make some cute little elf cookies in July. This month I am going to make a few Christmas and summer cookies for you. Hope you enjoy!
Supplies for Elf Cookies:
All icing is 15 second icing:
- Red Icing
- White Icing
- Flesh Icing
- Brown Icing
- Black Icing
Any Elf Face Cookie Cutter
4 mm Black Sugar Pearls
I bought elf cookie cutter a few years ago at Michael’s. I hope they have them again this year but, in case they don’t, these steps will work for almost any elf face cutter. When I began making cookies, I thought I had to have the exact same cutter as the tutorial I was following had. That is not the case. With a little sketching, you can make it work. I will show you what I mean in a minute.
Begin by using a food safe marker to draw the hat band. Then outline each section with the appropriate color.
Flood the tip of the hat and the hat band and let dry.Once the hat band and tip are dry, flood the hat with red.
Flood the face with the flesh color and add the black sugar pearls eyes while the icing is wet.
Once the face is dry, outline and flood the hair.
Then, with the black icing, add the mouth.
Next, add some cheeks with pink pearl dust like Sweet Sugar Belle shows in this tutorial.
See, I used the same steps for these elf cookies as I did the set in the first photo. It worked. These cute kid cutters came from Kookie Kultura. It is a set of 4 kid faces and they are adorable. To make them into elves, just cut out a face and a Santa hat and piece them together.
As you can see, I just used the hat cutter to trim off the top of the boy’s hair and added the hat cookie. You could make elf cookies with gingerbread men, an egg, or a circle cookie cutter.
Hope you all are ready to cool off a bit this summer because I have more Christmas in July on the way!
Bear hugs,
I just love Christmas in July and since I bought this cookie cutter (on ebay) after your penguin tutorial I am thrilled to see the elf. As always Miss Lisa you are da bomb.
Yeah! I am so glad you got the cutter Marian! I wish I would have bought all that Michael’s had. I could have shared with everyone!
I love your Christmas in July idea – and I love your elf cookies!
Maybe this year, I will have time to do half the Christmas cookies I dream of! LOL
Your elves are so cute, and I love the bright red! I love Christmas in July:)
I love white and red for Christmas Sue. One of these days I may be brave and decorate in white and red only.
It is super scary to even THINK about Christmas right now, but these little elves make it all worth it! Adorable, as always!
It scared me at first to Terri but now, I want to go Christmas shopping and beat the rush. Could you imagine having all your shopping done before Halloween? That is exciting! LOL Maybe I will get organized and be able to do it this year.
Lisa, these are adorable! I have yet to try making any face/character cookies. Something about them makes me super nervous. You, however, make it look so easy! Looking forward to more Christmas in July.
You can do it Aida!!! I know you can!!
Merry Christmas … in July! Your elves are adorable. I love the simplicity of their faces, yet they have so much character So cute:) Pinning for Christmas.
