How to make Super Fun Simple Reindeer Cookies

How to make super fun simple reindeer cookies are on the menu today and I’m super excited about them. If you follow along with this blog you know that I shared  How to Make Happy Renee the Reindeer Cookies a few days ago. Now it’s time for the rest of the reindeer crew.

I was going to do individual posts on all these cute little reindeer, but I decided to make Ralph, Rex, and Rudolph all at the same time so we could get along with more Christmas cookies. Let’s think about this for a second. It’s “the most wonderful time of the year” for a reason and I think cute Christmas cookies play a huge part in spreading Christmas cheer. Don’t you?

Before I start singing Christmas carols and handing out cups of hot cocoa, let’s make Rowdy Rex, Radiant Ralph, and Reliable Rudolph.

Radiant Ralph Reindeer Sugar Cookie:

Before I begin I wanted to mention all these reindeer are decorated in almost the same way. If I make them again I’ll use a lighter brown color for Radiant Ralph and Reliable Rudolph. I do like them a little darker, but I think I’d like them better if they were a little lighter.

Airbrush Radient Ralph:
  • Next, airbrush the edges of Ralph and if you’d like airbrush the top of the head where the antlers will be attached.
Details, details, details:
  • Pipe a line around the head and add the antlers. You can use the same brown, a lighter or darker brown, or black or you can use any color you’d like. I used the warm brown on the antlers and the chocolate brown around the head.
  • Time to outline and flood the nose with the AmeriColor Tulip Red Food Gel Color.
  • Pipe the eyes and line from the mouth with the AmeriColor Super Black Food Gel Color.
  • While the Tulip Red nose and the eyes are wet, add white highlights.
Add some snow to the antlers:
  • Once the antlers are dry, pipe a small amount of white royal icing on your food-safe brush and gently brush it on the antlers. You can see how this is done in the video. Or you can skip this part if you’d like. You can see both versions in the image above.
  • Let Ralph dry completely and he’s all done.
Rowdy Rex Reindeer Cookies:

  • Outline and flood Rowdy Rex with whatever color royal icing you like. I used AmeriColor Warm Brown Food-Gel Color for this cutie.
  • Let the icing dry until the surface forms a crust.
Airbrush Rowdy Rex or not:
  • Next, airbrush the edges of Rex and if you’d like, airbrush the top of the head where the antlers will be attached or you can skip this part. I made one of each in the main image above and below to show you some options. Pick what you like and go for it!
Time for a few details:
  • Pipe a line around the head with the same color you used to outline and flood him. Pipe the antlers any color you’d like.
  • Time to outline and flood the nose with the AmeriColor Tulip Red Food Gel Color.
  • Pipe the eyes and line from the mouth with one of the brown color or the AmeriColor Super Black Food Gel Color.
  • Let Rex dry completely and he’s all done.

I told you the steps were almost the same.

Reliable Rudolph Reindeer Cookies:

  • Outline and flood  Reliable Rudolph with whatever color royal icing you like. I outlined and flooded him with the Chocolate Brown Food Gel Color.
  • Let the icing dry until the surface forms a crust.
Airbrush Reliable Rudolph:
  • Airbrush the edges of Reliable Rudolph and the top of the head where the antlers will be attached.
Add some details:
Time to add some snow to the antlers:
  • Once the antlers are dry, pipe a small amount of white royal icing on your food-safe brush and gently brush it on the antlers. You can see how this is done in the video. Or you can skip this part if you’d like, but I like the snow on the antlers.
  • Let Reliable Rudolph dry completely and he’s all done.

If you notice in the photos I made Rudolph’s eyes brown and I didn’t like them. I used my turkey lacer to remove them and then added the black eyes. Much better don’t you think?

Add some more snow with a little water and some white food-gel color:

Do you want to add a little snow to each reindeer cookie? It’s not hard, but it is a little messy. If you place the cookies on some parchment paper you can water down a little white food gel color and use a brush to flick some white on the cookies. Grab your turkey lacer of scribe tool and push the brush down to make the splatter. See! Simple and cute.

Now you’re all done.
