How to Make Simple Bacon Cookies with a Video
Everything tastes better with a nice slice of bacon. You know what I’m talking about. You hear the sizzle and see those red strips of deliciousness frying up in the pan and you know how good life is at that moment! Bacon is a classic. It’s the cherry on top of most of our favorite foods. They even make bacon cupcakes now! But wait!! Let’s see if we can make bacon cookies as popular as the real bacon and eggs!
We are a group of women who can make things happen! We’re movers and shakers and happy day makers. So lets make life happy with bacon cookies served with sunny side up eggs to make the world happy.
Supplies for Bacon Cookies:
Recipes:
Sugar Cookie Recipe
Royal Icing Recipe
Royal Icing Colors:
Red-AmeriColor Tulip Red with a touch of AmeriColor Chocolate Brown. You may want to make it a little on the tick side. Not too thick. Just thick enough to not smooth out completely.
Pink-White to thin down the red colors. Thin it until you get the pink you want.
Tools:
Sweet Sugarbelle’s Bacon Cookie Cutter
Turkey Lacer
Truly Mad Plastic Tipless Bags
Baking sheets with a few pieces of aluminum foil rolled up and covered with parchment paper.
- Begin by cutting out the bacon cookies with Sweet Sugarbelle’s bacon cookie cutter. Don’t freeze them because you want to be in control when you add them to the baking sheet.
- Lay a few pieces of foil randomly on the baking sheet.
- Cover the rolls of foil with a piece of parchment paper.
- Place the cutout bacon cookies on the parchment covered foil and let them hang down and touch the cookie sheet. Try placing the bacon cookies a little wonky on the foil so the simple little bacon cookies will look different when they bake. You know, like the real ones you make in the big hot skillet.
- Bake them and watch the magic happen. The cookies will bake and take different shapes because of the foil. It will give them a nice shape that looks like actual bacon.
- Let the cookies cool completely before you decorate them.
- Outline them with the red royal icing.
- Flood the bacon cookies and don’t worry about making sure the icing is flat and smooth. If the icing is a little rough and bumpy it will only help with the finished look.
- While the red royal icing is wet, add a few lines of the pink royal icing.
- Once you get the bacon cookies decorated, let it dry completely.
- To make them dry with shine, place them in front of a fan as they dry.
