How to Make Rice Krispie Turkey Legs
Does anyone in your family fight over the turkey legs at Thanksgiving? It’s always been one of those funny things to see who is going to end up with a leg and who makes a wish for two turkeys next year. Well, this year, no one has to do without. Everyone will get a turkey leg. It may not be full of protein, but it’s just as full of goodness.
I’ve been wanting to make cereal turkey legs ever since I saw them on Kitchen Fun with My 3 Son’s. I think it’s a really cute idea and I wanted to guarantee everyone will get “a leg” this year. No more arguing over who gets a leg. This year, everybody wins!

Rice Krispie Turkey Legs
Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons butter or margarine
- 1 10 oz. Jet-Puffed Marshmallows
- 8 cups Kellogg's® Cocoa Krispies® cereal
Instructions
Pretzel Rod Legs:
- Break the pretzels in half.
- Place a small amount of chocolate in a bowl and melt it according to the directions on the package.
- Dip one end of the pretzel into the melted chocolate and place it on a piece of parchment paper.
- While the chocolate is wet, add two marshmallows and press them into the chocolate.
- Let it dry.
- Once the chocolate with the marshmallows has dried, dip the rest of the pretzel into the chocolate. I didn't cover the entire pretzel rod, but if you want to, it's up to you.
- Let it dry and repeat. I think the legs look better when the pretzels are dipped twice.
Turkey Leg Cereal
- Place the Cocoa Krispie Cereal in a bowl and set aside.
- Place the marshmallows in a separate microwave-safe bowl.
- Add the butter.
- Microwave on high for 30 seconds.
- Remove and stir.
- Repeat until the marshmallows are melted and smooth.
- Add the melted marshmallows to the cereal and stir until they are combined.
- While the cereal is still warm, form the top of the turkey legs with your hands. Be careful because the marshmallows will be warm and you don't want to get burned.
- Use a pretzel rod to make a hole in the end of the legs where you want to add the white chocolate pretzel legs.
- Dip the end of the leg without the chocolate into the white chocolate and push it into the hole where you made the leg.
- Pinch the cereal around the pretzel and let it dry for about fifteen minutes.
- Begin by breaking the pretzel rods in half.
- Melt some white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. Follow the directions on the package to see how to melt it.
- Place the pretzel rod on a piece of parchment paper and add two marshmallows while the icing is wet.
- Repeat with the other pretzels.
- Let them dry.
- Once you have added all the marshmallows, dip them in the white chocolate.
- Let them dry.
- Repeat. I like them better with two coats because they look smoother. And hey, who doesn’t like extra chocolate!
- Here’s a little tip for you. Make sure the chocolate is warm. If not it will look messy and thick. Can you see the difference?
- Set the legs aside and let them cool.
Be careful because the marshmallows will be warm and you don’t want to get burned.
- Use a pretzel rod to make a hole in the end of the legs where you want to add the white chocolate pretzel legs.
- Dip the end of the leg without the chocolate into the white chocolate and push it into the hole where you made the leg.
Here’s another little tip. Keep a bowl of water so you can dip your hands when the cereal starts sticking to you. Keep a dishtowel close so you can wipe off the excess water so you don’t get soggy cereal. Soggy cereal and soggy turkey sounds really bad. Yuck!
- Pinch the cereal around the pretzel.
- Repeat for the other turkey legs.
- Let it dry for about fifteen minutes.

There you go! Turkey legs for everyone. Replace the fighting with laughter and fun Thanksgiving memories!
Bear hugs,
Good morning Lisa, Cute! I think I will make these for my grandboys for Thanksgiving.
Thanks,
Deborah
Made these with my 2 great-nieces (6 & 9) for the Thanksgiving holiday. They loved helping to make them and, of course, eating them up. : ) I forgot two steps; 1) make a “pre-hole” in the krispie “leg; 2) dip the rod that will go into the hole with white chocolate. They were okay but had a little structural issue. LOL
