Super Simple Turkey Cookies
If you have been following along then, you know that I am doing a little something different for Thanksgiving cookies this year. I have decided to make ten different turkey cookies with ten different cookie cutters. The plan was to do it in ten days but, hey, life happens and it is taking me longer than I had planned. It will be okay as long as I keep waddling along. Anyway, here is turkey #7 a few super simple turkey cookies that are made with a plaque cookie cutter. You can also use a flower or a cloud cutter.
I like this cookie because you can make them pretty fast. Since the feathers are not touching, it really reduces the drying time and you have to love that!
Supplies for Super Simple Turkey Cookies:
Large Scalloped Oval Cookie Cutter I purchased mine at Karen’s Cookies but they are no longer in business. So this flower cutter from The Cookie Cutter Company will work if you stretch it out.
Red Icing
Brown Icing
Green Icing
Orange Icing
Yellow Icing
Candy Eyes
Food Safe Marker
These cookies are so easy to decorate that I don’t really need to give any instructions for them.
To begin, use a food-safe marker (any color) to make the body of the turkey in the center of the cookie.
Next, outline and feathers any color you chose.
Flood the feathers.
Pipe the feet and legs with the orange icing.
Let it dry for several hours.
Outline and flood the turkey’s body with the brown icing.
While the icing is wet, and the candy eyes. I used one large one and one small one to give them the “Oh NO!” look.
Let the cookie dry for a few hours and add the orange beak.
Let the nose dry for several hours and pipe the snood.
There you go. Super simple turkey cookies for Thanksgiving.

Bear hugs,
This guy is really cute and easy!!! Thanks–Katy
So adorable! I want to make each one!
Oh, they are all so cute, but I think these are my favorite so far.
I’m with Beth … he (I assume this is a tom turkey) is so cute … roly poly!
Do you think it matters in which order you pipe? Like can you pipe the body first and then the feathers or do you suggest the other away around as you stated in the directions?
Hi Hope,
I think you can do it either way, but I like to maek the feathers first because you can hide the end of the feathers with the turkey’s body. But you can do it anyway you want. 😉
Bear hugs,
Lisa
Does it matter what type of cookie you use? Beginner baker over here 🙂
I like using my cookie recipe because I can control the butter and salt. If you use a different recipe let me know how it works! 😉
Bear hugs!
I have made these and they came out great! Thank you for the idea! I would really like to use the same cookie cutter that you did, but can’t find it anywhere!!! Could you please tell me where I might be able to buy this one?
Hi Kristi,
I didn’t realize the link to the cutter was gone. Sorry about that. I found a few at The Cookie Cutter Company. It’s actually a flower and you can make it work if you stretch the cutter. Here is the link: https://www.cookiecuttercompany.com/flowers/1155-4-point-5-inch-linzer-flower-cookie-cutter
Sweet Sugarbelle did a good post on scalloped cookie cutters and you can find it here: http://www.sweetsugarbelle.com/2011/06/scalloped-round-cookie-cutters-wfmw-2/
Hope this helps!
