Halloween Candy Cookies
Raise your hand if you think Halloween is all about the candy. Sure, picking out a cute costume for yourself or your kiddos is a lot of fun but, why do we dress up in the first place? To get candy! Since this is the holiday for getting as much candy as you can, I decided to make cookies that look like Halloween candy.
There is something about the green, black, orange, yellow and purple candy wrappers that makes my heart happy. It also makes my wallet open. I have to buy it. I can’t resist. I am secretly hoping making these cookies will help me control my urge to buy all of the candy on the Wal-Mart shelves this year.
Cutters Used for Halloween Candy:
Candle Cookie Cutter
Sweet Sugar Belle’s Jar Cookie Cutter
Margarita Cookie Cutter
Number Eight Cookie Cutter
Candy Cookie Cutter
Several years ago I would have probably hand cut most of these cookies because I would have searched high and low for candy cutters. I never would have found them so, out of frustration, I would have spent hours hand cutting cookie dough. If you are like me, you don’t want to spend your decorating time hand cutting cookie doush because we all know the fun part is playing with the icing.
Thanks to great tutorial from our friend Sweet Sugar Belle, we have learned we don’t have to spend hours hand cutting to acheive the shapes we want and need. Looking at cutters with an open mind will save us hours in the kitchen. This Halloween candy set is a perfect example of that. All of these cookies were made with five cookie cutters. They are labeled so you can tell what cutter was used for each piece of Halloween candy.
1- Bottom of the Margarita Cookie Cutter
2- Sweet Sugar Belle’s Cookie Jar Cutter
3- Candle Cutter
4- Candy Cutter
8- Number Eight Cutter
Cut off the bottom of the margarita glass and add it to Sweet Sugar Belle’s cookie jar cutter or the number eight cutter to make several cookie and candy jars. If you want different sizes, trim the bottom of the eights and the jars before attaching it to the margarita stem.
Making candy cookies from the candle cutter is easy once your cut off the flame. I know there are many more options for this cookie cutter and I hope you share them with me when you make them.
I want to take a minute to thank Sweet Sugar Belle. She has changed the way I think about using cookie cutters. She has shown us over and over again how to make more than one shape from a single cutter. She has made all of our lives easier with her creativity and wonderful tutorials. I don’t think I will ever be able to tell her how great she is and how thankful I am for all she has taught me. She truly makes the world a better place by empowering us to think outside of the cutter. Thanks Callye for everything you do for us and for saving us hours in the kitchen.
Bear hugs,
Awesome cutter creativity, Lisa! I’ve done surprisingly well with avoiding Halloween candy and not feeling TOO deprived this year 😉 Though, perhaps I’ll have hubby pick up a couple Reese’s pumpkins for me to enjoy after the baby comes…or, by then, the Reese’s trees will probably be out anyway! 😉
Jennifer, we’ll know you were jones-ing for Reese’s if you name your little gal Reese! 😉
Hahaha! I love you Jennifer!! If you want Reese’s pumpkins, we will make sure you have them after your bundle of joy arrieves!
Lisa! These are so super cute. Surprisingly I don’t by candy for myself anymore, how crazy is that, right? That being said I’d sure love to munch on some of these fun cookies.
Great Cookie Thinking.
I am not surprised you don’t buy that much candy any more Hani! Your creations are amazing and better than anything you can get at the store!!
I mean buy not by
What a sweet thank-you to Callye. She is wonderfully creative and talented and I think we all feel the same about her as you do. I could also same the same about you Lisa. Your beautiful blog is not only a treat to visit but also a fabulous resource for cookie decorators everywhere. Love your assorted candy cookies.
Awe! And don’t forget yourself Paula! You are a huge inspiration to us all and we love you!!
Lovely!
Thanks! 😉
These are so FUN! Don’t you just love the bright colors of Halloween?! So stinkin’ cute, as always!
YES!! I want to buy all the candy and magazines just because they have fall and Halloween colors on them! LOL
So do tell….what do you do in your free time? Oh wait, I forgot. You never have any free time! These cookies, like every cookie ever posted before them are crazy adorable . And the candle cutter….one of my all time favorites too! I have three of them….just in case they’re pulled from the market one day and we have a global storage….wanted to have a cookie backups. Love your color choices too!
LOL You is so sweet and funny Anita! I actually made these cookies when I was on vacation in Panama City Beach. I would hang out on the beach until I got all the sun I could take and make cookies at night.
Buying three of these cutters is a great idea. I think I will order more today! Thanks for the tip.
Your creativity knows no bounds! Just one more reason for me to pick up that candle cutter. I don’t know why I don’t have it yet. 🙂 Love all the fun Halloweeny colors of this batch, Lisa!
You are the one that is super creative Mike! I love everything you do!! I hope you do get a candle cutter and show us a few more things to make with it!
Lisa, These cookies are adorable. They really look like the real thing. Happy Halloween!
Thanks Joan! They were easy and fun! Happy fall!!!
Halloween is, or was, rather, all about the candy for me. Sadly, I haven’t been able to go Trick or Treating in so many years. I do enjoy passing candy out to the kiddos, though. That’s fun too. You cookies are so colorful and sweet. It is cool to see how you used the candle cutter to make some of the cookies.
I miss Trick or Treating also. I live in the middle of no where so I have NEVER had any kiddos knock on my door. I usually make some goodie bags to pass out to my friends kids. Oh well, maybe one day I will have a trick or treater. Until then, I will stick to cookies and try to avoid the candy isles!
Happy Halloween Beth!
Oh, I would be sad if I didn’t have any kids at my door on Halloween. I love passing out candy and seeing all the costumes.
I KNOW!!! It is sad! LOL I might have to go hang out with friends this year to fill a giant void! LOL
Absolutely adorable mix of Halloween candy and you hit the Halloween colors spot on!
Thanks Michelle!
Oh Lisa – you did it again – make an adorable mix of Halloween cookies – and I love them all. I do love Halloween candy, but I know I would love these cookies filling my candy jars even more! 🙂
I haven’t bought the first piece of candy this year so maybe these are magic cookies! Once you make them, you don’t want candy! LOL
They are ALL so cute!!
Thank you Sandie! Happy Fall!!
I love this collection so much! The colors make me happy too, Lisa, and I think I just may prefer your cookies over the candy!
I am in LOVE with these bright beautiful cookies. The candy roll is my absolute FAVE!
I love how fun and colorful these are and I LOVE that “trick or treat” centerpiece cookie! Beautiful work as always Lisa!
Very cute! I love “candy” cookies! What cutter did you use for your gumdrops?
